Blue flowers of Ceanothus growing against the bright yellow leaves of Choisya ternata Sundance
Best I’ve ever seen them. What about this combination?

The rounded head of fluffy, white dandelion seeds
🌱 Please don’t blow! Time seems to have speeded up and I want to appreciate every glorious day of spring. It is going to be another sunshine filled day. Hope it is the same for you.

I have been slightly jealous of people posting pictures of their first roses to flower this year while I am relying on memories but luckily I have lots of those. I’m off to lunch with volunteering colleagues, now wonderful friends.
It’s looking so good!
Thin spidery petals of beautiful blue.

I was surprised (but delighted) to see this perennial cornflower (Centaurea montana) in Wisley’s Hilltop Wildlife garden on Sunday. It seems very early.
Spires of purple lilac flowers against a bright blue sky with some fluffy white clouds.
🌱 #BlueskyMonday and #magentaMonday. It’s Lilac season! The year seems to be flying by. If you want me, I will be in my tiny garden.
I find in my garden it is virtually bomb proof but I have a very robust variety.
I am only there on a Sunday morning so our paths might not cross.
A spray of bright yellow flowers against green foliage. Behind the flowers, new leaves are emerging and they are maroon with green veins.

The pretty flowers and colourful new foliage of Epimedium in my tiny garden. I’m off to Wisley’s Hilltop for my volunteering shift. The sun is shining and I think we will be busy.
If you know, you know!
A collage of six pictures from my tiny garden this week. The large picture is a bright pink Azalea. The small pictures are white flowers and shiny green leaves of Christa ternata, one of the last tulips, a beautiful apricot colour, white flowers of Iberis, apple blossom from an ancient tree which was in the garden when I moved in and the lime green of Smyrmium perfoliata.

I have had the opportunity to spend time in my tiny garden this week and that’s where I will be today.
Hard to find words to comfort you. Take care of yourself and dwell on happy memories.
Hope by now you have landed safely!
The front of the Lab is looking stunning!
Tall spikes of bright purple flowers above heart shaped leaves that have a pink and white margin around a green centre. At the bottom is the Wisley plant label identifying the plant as Lunaria annua Somerset Marbled planted in 2025
A close up of the purple flowers and pink edged foliage.

Good to have Bluesky back behaving itself so I can show you this stunning “Honesty”. It is growing in the car park side of the Old Lab at Wisley.
@bsky.app Can you please tell us why Bluesky hasn’t been working for most of the day?
A bell shaped, pink clematis flower being visited by a bee.

Looking forward to seeing both of these again. Meanwhile today is set to be grey and damp. Oh well, the garden appreciates the moisture.
Even better now!
Gorgeous! I looked at the Dunwich rose yesterday. It is often the first to flower at Wisley but although it was full of buds, sadly no flowers yet.
Two pink roses
🌱 #roseWednesday
I”m still relying on memories but this one is a good one from 2014!
Off to do a tour and unfortunately I think it will be a damp one. Oh well, the Glasshouse and Alpine Display house will provide some shelter.
Worth an immediate follow!
I just had to scrape the ice off my car!
A huge, wide spreading tree covered with yellow leaves.
A spray of the yellow leaves that has fallen on to the grass.

One of my favourite trees at Wisley. It is Quercus rubra Aurea and in spring the emerging leaves are a glorious yellow.
Tour guide training with Jonathan this morning and then lunch with my Bestie. Life is good! Oh and my car passed its MOT yesterday.
I would love to see a picture of that! It sounds amazing.
Try it! I have and it’s not overpowering.
Bright pink leaves emerging at the top of a bare branch. Behind it is a metal arch.
🌱 #magentaMonday
The beautiful emerging leaves of Toona sinensis Flamingo growing in Wisley’s Hilltop World Food Garden. It earns its place there because the leaves are edible, tasting slightly of onion and can be used in salads. Normally it grows tall and is a suckering thug.
Special!
No I can’t remember the name or even where I bought it from! Sorry.
A bright yellow tulip. The top of the petals looks like a fringe.

Not a Wisley tulip but one of mine growing in my tiny garden! I will definitely buy more of these in the autumn.
Off to Wisley’s Hilltop this morning.
