Excerpt from article reads "New data suggests these concerns are not hypothetical. According to an exclusive NBC News report, over 400 hospitals across the U.S. are at high risk of closing or reducing services following Medicaid funding changes enacted in 2025. Those hospitals collectively serve nearly seven million patients.

"Many of the facilities identified in the report operate on narrow margins and depend heavily on public insurance funding to remain open. Health analysts say hospitals serving low-income communities, including many with large Black populations, are particularly vulnerable under those conditions."

New @blavity.bsky.social report: hospitals serving Black communities face funding risks as Republican lawmakers weigh Medicaid cuts.

These hospitals are already 4x more likely to close — worsening medical debt & health inequities.

While MAGA lawmakers keep talking about “fraud,” government watchdogs at @gao.gov have shown that improper payments overwhelmingly stem from HMOs and health care corporations — not immigrant families.

This isn’t fiscal responsibility. It’s political theater. communitycatalyst.org/posts/scapeg...

It's Medicaid Awareness Month! 🎉 We're celebrating by holding Republicans responsible.

Republicans cut over $1 trillion from Medicaid in their One Big, Ugly Bill, threatening the system that provides health care access to over 68 million Americans. We're not letting them get away with it.

Losing your health coverage over a $0.05 balance shouldn't be a consequence of a profit-driven system—but that's exactly what's happening to people like Lorena. She is one of millions navigating a system where profits matter more than people.

About half of people who give birth each year are covered by Medicaid w/ little shared cost. The other half rely on private insurance — with a hefty cost.

A 2024 @kff.org poll found pregnant ppl w/ employer coverage pay $2,743 more out of pocket, contributing to higher medical debt among new moms.

KFF Tracking Poll on Health Information and Trust: Use of AI For Health Information and Advice | KFF This poll finds that about as many adults are turning to AI for health information as social media, with health care costs and access driving many users, particularly younger users.

A new KFF poll shows that 1 in 3 adults are now using AI as a primary source for health advice and information.

Why? Many of them say its because they can't afford to access health care any other way.

"There’s a very real affordability impact for people who have coverage,” says Colin Reusch, our director of policy.

The cost is real. In a 2023 campaign, we heard from more than 17,000 people in every state about why essential health benefits need to expanded.

Today, the need is even greater.

In a world where reproductive health care could easily become another privilege reserved for the wealthy, Medicaid helps empower everyday people to make their own decisions about when, and if, to start a family.

It's no coincidence it's constantly under threat. https://pulse.ly/etzm5wrutz

Per @pewresearch.org 23% of U.S. adults are in a "sandwich generation." As the nation ages & cost of living increases, so will this cohort.

And it comes with a cost — major disruptions in quality of life & finances. Yet caregivers receive little of the support they give: https://pulse.ly/qgse57cwlb

Thomas’ Story: When Coverage Fits, Life Comes Together - Community Catalyst Cuts driven by H.R. 1 are straining health systems, stretching providers thin, and widening the cracks in our health care system — making it harder for people to live full, independent lives.  Thomas is a longtime Colorado resident who wears many hats: business owner, educator, mentor, and access...

For Thomas and the 12.8M people who are dually eligible for Medicaid and Medicare, having access to both programs means "being able to access the community resources that I need to live my best life." This access isn't a policy debate. It's his life. https://pulse.ly/0hsgqnsgtz
