Back from my holiday in Japan. I love that you can visit a sprawling Shinto shrine that's been a place of reflection and prayer for over a thousand years, and also meet Donkey Kong #Kyoto #UniversalSudiosJapan

I refuse to pronounce it the "proper" way, like when the creator of GIF said it was pronounced "jif"

I'd recommend starting from storybook with vite, either as nexjs or just react. It does all the boilerplate, can view work in isolation mode or use the many helpful dev tool addons to display details

Great work, looking forward to it rolling out to more frameworks too

I mostly build web comps but use storybook, my tools flit between vanilla and react. During a meeting, claude built an intractive preview for my anim design tokens, started off being too react heavy, a few prompts it used the design tokens correctly with auto updating the mdx as tokens are added.

I'm pretty happy with the pivot I've been making to AI embeded workflows, if anything it's reinforced where my skills are most useful. The part I dislike the most is reviewing AI generated code from others, who I know can do better themselves

Having to dash from #SotB26 to resume adulting, gutted that I couldn't attend the whole day or drinks but just half a day is so inspiring and educational

Caught most of #sotb26 on the live stream, and now plans are back on track it's a race against the clock to make the afternoon sessions.

I've been using the inert attribute for a lot of what I was using aria-hidden for, do you know if I could use inert instead of aria-hidden in this circumstance too?

Never liked the separate input approach, date maths is a nightmare. The ui to tell user's they've picked an incorrect date because leap years are every 4 years except skip 100 years unless it's divisible by 400.

Guess it's a similar side effect to accessibility bringing seo benefits along with it.

I'm using web components a lot more, and that's throwing up unexpected a11y challenges. Such as trying to use a slot in a list doesn't announce the right number of "slides" in nvda but does on talkback ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Great article. The complaince โ‰  accessible experience does seem to be getting more traction, and something I'm trying to make clear in my work. Really looking forward to Chad Gowler's talk on the same subject at SOTB2026 2026.stateofthebrowser.com/speaker/chad...

Yum. It looks more feature rich than the last browser themed cake I made

I encourage grid first use in teams I'm working in, it's much more scaleable and performant than flexbox. I think there's a lot to learn, but I often find I'm using the same few props. Template rows/columns with grid areas and a handful of units does 99% of my layout.

Yep did so yesterday too. Did the same for plaid in the recent senedd by election. Small donations can make a difference when teamed with a proactive, sincere party embeded in their communities instead of being at the beck and call of their major donors

Going for a second time because the quality of speakers is world leading in a setting that feels quite homely. The take away knowledge and energy I had from last year really invigorated my passion for the web
