Dusk storm rainbow!
Those are the best.
Bait - as in sharks in a supermarket? I love that film!
Clearly Christian Bale (left) method-acting to get into a role.
Filling a gap in my film repertoire with Night of the Hunter (1955)
So far, it's pretty solid.
I love how clear the diction is in a lot of these older films. They almost come across like plays.

Just reworked the ending of a new creature horror I've written. Really proud of this one and can't wait to get it out there. It's based on a real-life biological phenomenon that gave lots of mileage in terms of setpieces.
Now to watch a new Blumhouse film: The Passenger. Can't wait!

The first one really surprised me with how much I enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
It's good. It's a Spielberg film.
For me, Ready Player One.
I like the book a lot, but the film had an emotional depth with the Halliday storyline (helped by the choice of actor) that I thought elevated it.
Congratulations!!
It happens a lot.
And then the shelters fill up. When you start seeing discount days at shelters (50-dollar cat day and so on) that's probably an indicator in and of itself.
We also did discount veterinary services for the poor, and suddenly it was people who had never in their lives had to ask for help coming to us to get emergency surgeries and vaccines.
I don't know if it's strange, per se but in the Global Financial Crisis, I worked at a huge animal shelter and it was seeing all the expensive breeds and family pets get dropped off that was my first indicator the bottom had fallen out of lots of people's lives.
Hey! Congratulations on the Locus nomination for this.

AND you get the gift of Michael Shannon and Joel Edgerton in one movie.
Cannot wait to see this movie. I hope it comes to our cinemas here. It's exactly my jam.
That's a comp for the first-contact feature I just wrote. I got onto it later than I should have. It's a beautiful film.
This is good. 🧵
The Life of Chuck is gorgeous. Telling the story in reverse makes the dreamy opening act hit you right in the heart.
I cried so much during this film. For the wonder of Us. The miracle that is our one life; our lived-in internal world that is its own kind of universe... while we are here.

That's so cool. I love meeting people like this.
[alt text by NASA] The Moon, seen here backlit by the Sun during a solar eclipse on April 6, 2026, is photographed by one of the cameras on the Orion spacecraft’s solar array wings. Orion is visible in the foreground on the left. Earth is reflecting sunlight at the left edge of the Moon, which is slightly brighter than the rest of the disk. The bright spot visible just below the Moon’s bottom right edge is Saturn. Beyond that, the bright spot at the right edge of the image is Mars. Credit: NASA
Whoa 🤯
The Moon, in full eclipse, with the #Artemis II Orion spacecraft. Part of the Moon and spacecraft are lit by Earthshine, and both Saturn and Mars are visible to the lower right. Incredible. Details: images.nasa.gov/details/art0...
"Trouble with the spaceship was it?"
An excerpt of an interview with art historian and critic David Sylvester which i think feels relevant to the environment artists find themselves in the digital/social media/algorithmic content age
Seated for Project Hail Mary. Have been busting to see this ever since the trailer came out.

Yeah. It felt like the first time I watched Den of Thieves and had some of that being-closed-in-on tension of 13 Hours: the Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.
Watching Damon and Affleck together is always great.
Currently watching The Rip.
I know nothing about whether it is an accurate depiction of policing, but it's a tense watch. I'm enjoying it way more than I thought. Netflix have had some good thrillers of late: Carry On is good too (Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton).

Watching EDDINGTON (finally) and hoo-boy. Does that hit now. Amazing piece of art. Absolutely captures the mood and parallel-realities and stress of the present era. Ari Aster nailed it.
Pair it with Don't Look Up for that extra dose of "how are we going to see eye-to-eye again" despair.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado is a gripping movie (chilling at times). I felt that same tone as the first one.
