Same is very true for education. Philanthropy is not the same as public support.
Excellent criteria. Would not have expected those red patches in Maine!

Ahh so fun!
They also deliquesce into goo that has been used as forgery-resistant ink (bc the spores can be seen w/ magnification) 🤯 Someday if I get really #dhmakes motivated I’ll give it a try!
idk just feels relevant in this moment.
A grassy green background with two dramatic-looking mushrooms growing from it. They have narrow stipes and shaggy whitish caps that are turning black and gooey at the edges. Like turkey tail and violet-toothed polypore, inkcaps are decomposers, creating new life from dead logs and other detritus. They are strong enough to push through asphalt. And, as fungi, they are so much more than the visible fruiting bodies; their underground networks of mycelium form critical components of a networked and collaborative ecology.
Going through my manuscript of Unexpected Flourishing, I came across a reminder that one of the reasons I chose Inkcap as a business name is because they are strong enough to push through asphalt.
ACH is one of my favorite conferences: virtual, bilingual, capacious+just vision of what digital humanities can be, joyous. Some past conferences have fallen on particularly hard dates (eg day after election), & every time I've found hope+purpose (never by ignoring what's burning) by attending these
In 2024 The Conversation had 8.3M in revenue and 7.8M in expenses and paid $0 to writers. Is that really ok with you?

I’m traveling and mostly offline but today I ate a LOQUAT which I had never had before and I did not even know what it was but the friendly italian fruit vendor threw a couple into my bag and now my life is just a little better than before.
thank you so much for weighing in! I kind of intentionally did not tune into the whole process and was looking for insights on implications of the vote.
Today is Trans Day of Visibility. Trans, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people have always been here — from the hijra of India to the Diné nádleehi to the leaders who built the modern LGBTQIA+ movement here in New York. Your existence is not up for debate. Your lives are not a political issue. We're fighting for a city where every trans New Yorker can live openly, safely, and with joy.
The Professional Staff Congress calls on NYC Mayor @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social to veto Intro 175-B.
Joyful, colorful posters reading "Protect Trans Kids", "All Kids, All Sports", "Love for Trans Kids" and more. The best.
A row of newly-printed t-shirts reading "Trans Pride World-Wide" handing on a line to dry.
This event celebrating trans and gender-expansive kids was the absolute best. So much joyful making: zines, buttons, t-shirts, and more. Packed with families. Thank you POGEK and Interference Archive for creating this space 💖🩵💖🩵 interferencearchive.org/event/gender...

My own bit of joy today
Once again grateful to the good people at @www.reclaimhosting.com for providing excellent support (and for never making me feel like my questions are ridiculous even when I objectively don't know what I'm talking about)
