On top of the opportunity to advocate for the pharmacy profession today at PSW Legislative Day, I am ecstatic to announce I matched at Froedtert Main Campus as a PGY1 Acute Care Resident!

Thank you to my mentors, preceptors, professors, and those who have shown me love :)

For today's poem, I've selected "Wild Geese" by Mary Oliver. Take some time to read it through.

Most likely the pharmacist reached out to the doctor to have a new prescription sent for 30 days after explaining the situation to them

Corrupt Middlemen Are The Real Reason Drug Prices Keep Increasing
Corrupt Middlemen Are The Real Reason Drug Prices Keep Increasing YouTube video by More Perfect Union

Howdy! Im a student pharmacist. Pharmacists hate not being able to do this! I think this video does a good job of explaining why: youtu.be/wmZtBW54GNI?...

TLDR, pharmacy benefit managers are unnecessary middleman and require regulation, so there can be transparency! #PBMreformNOW

As MAHA Looms, a Look Back on MAGA’s Big HCQ Lie - WhoWhatWhy The paper behind Trump’s “game changer” COVID-19 cure has finally been retracted, but the damage is done — with many snake oil salesmen headed for Washington.

This is an excellent piece documenting how hydroxychloroquine became MAGA’s favorite COVID cure despite not actually being effective against the disease.

I like this!

Not only defibrillators (AEDs), fire extinguishers & first-aid kits should be mandated in public spaces

Having EpiPens (auto-injecting devices that contain epinephrine) readily available sounds a nice idea

The key takeaway is that the world’s richest man got what he wanted; stripped our cancer funding for kids, killed reforms to bring down drugs prices and caps on investment in China. Trump on the other hand demanded a debt ceiling raise and got nothing.

It's crazy hearing about the targeted killing of a health insurance CEO on the same day as hearing another health insurance company doesn't want to pay for anesthesia for the full length of surgery...

1/ Keppra (levetiracetam) loading dose isn’t 1-2g for all status epilepticus patients.

Recommended dose is 60 mg/kg (max 4.5g) as per the landmark ESETT trial.

Important to give full dose especially when case warrants it.

Some of the disease-causing bacteria in raw milk: Listeria, Salmonella, E. coli, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus aureus, Yersinia, Brucella, and Coxiella. Also the parasite Cryptosporidium.

There’s a good reason for food regulations: they keep people from dying for stupid reasons. 🧪
