SC administration of 2g ceftriaxone appears to be well tolerated with favourable PK parameters in non-critically ill patients with severe infections.
Hopeful that this will add to the growing body of literature that normalise the use of SC antibiotics for some patients.
Fantastic article!
Well done @elisemitri.bsky.social and @trubianojason.bsky.social

Our findings support the utility of histopathological analysis whilst also demonstrating a high rate of discordance between histopathology and microbiology.
In contrast to histopathology, positive cultures were not associated with lower rates of treatment success.
Happy to share our latest article that explores the optimal method to determine residual bone infection in DFI.

Authors conclude: CSF pleocytosis important criterion for encephalitis diagnosis, but 23.7% of those with HSV-1 encephalitis exhibited an absence of pleocytosis on initial LP. Acyclovir initiation should not be delayed in the absence of pleocytosis in patients with suspected encephalitis. #IDSky
Further work is needed to define the optimal screening and management strategies for disseminated cryptococcosis in immunocompromised patients without HIV.

We describe the diverse clinical presentations, attributable mortality rate, and ill-defined treatment of Mycobacterium bovis infections after intra-vesical BCG installation.
This interesting case is a great example of how a common infection can present atypically in an increasingly diverse and complex immunocompromised population.
