Preserving your story isn’t just about memory. It’s about identity, belonging, & connection. When we document local stories, we help build stronger, more inclusive communities. And the best part? It all starts with you.
Your story is worth remembering. Start with one folder. One photo. One memory.

Ever looked at an old photo and thought, “Who is this?” or “Why did I save this?” Custom Metadata on Permanent lets you add personal details, stay organized, and tell the full story of your files. 📖✨ Learn more in our latest blog: bit.ly/4jX6lZT #DigitalLegacy #Metadata #FamilyHistory #Genealogy
Tip #1 Scan Documents at 100% Actual Size: Scanning at the original size keeps the details correct and prevents distortion when you print or view them later
Tip #2 Use 300 DPI or Higher for Enlargements : A resolution of 300 DPI captures enough detail for clear text and images. For enlarging, use a higher resolution to keep the quality intact
Tip #3 Scan Black & White in Grayscale; Use Color for Documents With Colored Elements: Grayscale improves readability and reduces file size for black-and-white documents, while full-color scans preserve important details like stamps, seals, or signatures.
Tip #4 Check Each Scan for Clear, Readable Text: Make sure your scans are clear and not blurry or cut off, so all the details are captured correctly before saving
Preservation Week is a perfect time to safeguard the moments that matter. Every photo & document holds a piece of your story; learning to scan them properly is the first step toward long-term preservation. Check out our quick tips to get started!
