#QueerPrompts April 21
Growing up poor, libraries were the only reason I had access to more than a very small handful of books, so they're essential to my love of reading. I tend to try to create things I love, so naturally I moved from a love of reading to writing.

Background is a moon with clock hands and a blue starry sky. The center is the book cover of Somewhere in Nowhere by Steven Gellman, which features two teen boys facing each other under a moon with clock hands. Below are five stars.
Somewhere in Nowhere by @hiddenpoetmusic.bsky.social is a young adult novel full of heart and humor that will make you laugh and cry as you feel everything right along with Simon. It deals with some heavy issues while being a fun read.

#QueerPrompts April 20: Lesbian/queer women in your story
Gale is this chill, laid back biker chick who never really gets upset about anything.
Tien is her opposite, always getting annoyed and upset, but still just as caring as Gale, who naturally she falls for.

#QueerPrompts April 19: Nonbinary Parents Day: Nonbinary/queer parents in your story?
In Gravity's Fire, I have most of the teens be queer while having most of the adults not to emphasize the divide. So, Nix and Max don't have identifiable queer parents, but Nix's bff Lex has two dads.

#QueerPrompts April 18: What award would your character(s) receive?
Nix would win the award "Technology Destroyer" for destroying more devices and appliances than any other teenager. Yay! ๐
Max would win the award "Sweetest & Most Caring Boyfriend Ever." ๐ฅฐ

#QueerPrompts April 17: Free Friday or how do you motivate yourself to write?
Listening to music inspires new ideas, while reading what I've already written makes it easier to write more. Of course, *wanting* to write isn't my problem. Not having time or being too tired to focus is.

Nix would steal Max's heart. ๐

#QueerPrompts April 15: Your/your MC's favorite art form or share art
Nix likes to draw, though he doesn't think he's very good, but he'd say his favorite art form is music. He's constantly listening to love songs to inspire him to find his soulmate, and they take on new meanings once he meets Max.

Aside from the very beginning of Gravity's Fire taking place in a small coastal town, the whole rest of the book takes place in Ember Crater, a town built deep inside an ancient crater. Everything from meeting Max to the epic climax takes place there.

I sometimes use weather to set the mood of a scene, but more often I only bring it up if it's relevant to the scene, like saying it's sunny with a storm in the distance that never gets closer or it's cloudy and a character whose powers are tied to the sun feels out of sorts.

In Gravity's Fire, elementamers can mentally bond with animals that share their elemental connection and use their unique abilities. For example, skytamers (Air) can see through the eyes of birds, control where they fly, and even make themselves fly.

I like quiet introspection in real life, so that caries over to books. But, for my own writing, I have things happening because I know others may get bored.
It's like how my classmates talked about being bored and I couldn't understand why they didn't want time to think. ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ

#QueerPrompts April 9: Character(s) with mark(s) on their body
Max starts out with scars since he rock climbs, but they go away after he meets Nix, as if Nix's healing ability is somehow becoming his own.
Zephyr ends up with a scar on his face after Nix (spoilers).

Max dances as if he's part of the music, even when he's dancing around others, but Nix is only comfortable dancing alone in his room and so is stiff and awkward when Max asks him to dance at a party. But, in Max's arms, Nix relaxes and has fun.
