KI researchers have created a detailed map showing how genetic activity is controlled in individual cells of the adult human #brain and #spinalcord. Oligodendroglia retain an epigenetic memory of developmental programs long after these genes are no longer active 🧪 news.ki.se/new-map-reve...

A study published in @nature.com today presents a new method that makes it possible to generate CAR-T cells inside the body. Several types of #cancer were treated in mice without the immune cells needing to be extracted and processed in a laboratory 🧪 #immunotherapy news.ki.se/immune-cells...
Let me introduce you to KaroSpace, which is a rapid-access framework for interactive exploration of multi-sample spatial omics data. The preprint can be accessed here: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
Check our latest preprint, Christoffer et al. at our lab developed KaroSpace, with which you can quickly generate a browser to explore your own or published spatial omics data! And here goes my soundtrack to spatial explorations, DJ-Kicks by Erlend Øye

Congrats @patrikernfors.bsky.social!!! Our head of the MolNeuro unit at @ki.se, an inspiration to all of us!
KI researchers have identified the neurogenic progenitor that gives rise to dopaminergic neurons – the primary neurons affected in #Parkinsons disease and essential for controlling movement. The study is published in @natneuro.nature.com 🧪 #neuroscience news.ki.se/how-dopamine...

With all the excitement about AI giving us answers, we often forget that the real trick is to figure out what is the question.
There’s an art to writing a grant proposal so that your creativity is on full display. Maria Leptin - president of the ERC - talks about it on the new episode of the Night Science Podcast.
First paper from the lab is now online
@natneuro.nature.com !
We mapped injury induced enhancers in the mouse CNS and decoded their sequence architecture. Little 🧵 rdcu.be/eSQi1
Major new direction in the lab: hacking human cell biology with pathogen effectors (eORFs) - amazing collaboration with @miketilapia.bsky.social lab. Huge congrats to first authors Tomas & He & all co-authors! Check out the pre-print on @biorxivpreprint.bsky.social www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
New 🧬✂️ pre-print! We show that paired prime editing can efficiently generate large deletions — even >1 Mb — with high precision and at scale. We use this to perform the first pooled prime deletion screen across the human genome.

A new study in @natneuro.nature.com by @gocastelobranco.bsky.social et al explores how oligodendrocytes respond in #MultipleSclerosis. The researchers identified distinct and early disease-related states and gene activity patterns that may help explain how #MS progresses 🧪 news.ki.se/oligodendroc...
Our paper, driven by Chao Zheng and Bastien Hervé in the lab @ki.se, is now out in @natneuro.nature.com!

Interestingly we identified MS-associated SNPs to regulate oligodendrocyte proliferation and differentiation but also cytokine secretion!!
Great joint effort with @deckardw.bsky.social and remaining twitterless authors! Enjoy!
New preprint from
@gocastelobranco.bsky.social lab!! We use MPRA & scCRISPRi/a to interrogate possible functions of GWAS-identified Multiple sclerosis risk SNPs in iPSC-derived oligodendrocytes.
