#Soudan.

That must have been quite the trip. Not wanting to downplay all the challenges these countries face today, they managed a very positive evolution that Africa is still struggling.
The fact that Africans have way more trouble putting food on the table than 10 years ago is a cause profound of concern.
Also worth noting that until the 1970s, India was far ahead of Africa in hunger statistics, which speaks volumes of the evolution in the country in the last 50 years.
More interesting is perhaps the fact that the Middle East overtook Africa in hunger statistics in the last 10 years. This gap will only widen with the ongoing cycle of vicious wars.
Looking forward to next Thursday’s event and the opportunity to engage with new perspectives on decentring European approaches to history. It’s a real pleasure to have been invited.

Book cover shows an alleyway in a Rio favela, the black and white photo has been given a bluish tinge; my name is upper left, the title of the book "Poverty of the Imagination" is at lower left and at right, in reddish text is the subtitle "The Cold War and the Social Science of Development in Latin America"
Your humble servant has a written a book about the social science of poverty in Cold War Latin America and the contexts that shaped its creation, from international sources like the Ford Foundation to dictatorships across the region. The book is in production and will be ready at the end of 2026
Can a university exist without historians? A question asked by this clip. This is an ominous trend in American university education & it is not disconnected from the current political times. Less history= more authoritarianism t.co/qomAef8ooS
Wikipedia, a site once considered not credible as a source and possibly spreading misinformation, now has higher standards for its content than universities have for students
