I guess this is middle age in a nutshell, intending to spend your free evening playing video games, instead you spend hours looking for your damn knee brace

In the US, it’s National Library Workers’ Day, and I would be remiss to let it pass without reminding you that the “library workers are magic” narrative leads bad places. Love, respect, and cherish them, but also pay them, staff libraries appropriately, and let them draw boundaries.
Yes, it's very weird to consume media that seems to exist in this alternate timeline where COVID never happened. Like, people still mask, right now! Then you watch a movie and it's just a hotel that goes from floor 12 to 14, something is distinctly missing and no one will talk about floor 13.

Me: No
DMC: Ok but we need to call you
Me: Fine, whatever
DMC: Just kidding, it's a Zoom meeting
Me: Hold on-
DMC: And we want to record it with AI
Me: *cocks bazooka*
I can't believe that out of the four knee braces I own, I can't find the one that fits and works best.
I could be good at something cool, instead it's "losing things"
Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock are back in PRACTICAL MAGIC 2.
Only in theaters September.
I'm a librarian, I'm very familiar. Generally, every library gets access to the whole Hoopla catalog because they pay per checkout. Libraries can ask for some types of items to not be included, but I felt it was still worth mentioning if anyone was still looking for a place to watch it this weekend.
For anyone looking, Little Shop the musical is still on Hoopla for now.
I didn't know if it's true that one uses different parts of one's brain, but I do know reading what I wrote aloud catches a whole bunch of simple grammar and copy-edit errors, and it's a practice I recommend for every writer.
A meme that with the headliner: "T. Kingfisher Writing a Book", and below it it "I am going to put that sensible middle aged woman in a situation."
With sincere apologies to @tkingfisher.com.
I just started this cute game called Tiny Book Shop where you sell and recommend books to people. It's oddly reassuring that even fake computer NPCs can be difficult to please, even though I'm not sure it says great things about my readers advisory skills.
Yes pollen allergies are getting worse!
No it's not because of sexism!
It's because of climate change!
It would be cool if we could focus on fixing THAT, instead of chasing our tails with botanical sexism!
I know this has flaws, but there are a handful of standout moments that have permanently burrowed their way into my brain so I just think it's neat
Also, the vibes!

BRB putting "A nosy bitch who wants to find out" at the top of my resume right now
Tapping the sign
For those of us who never used all of our Bluesky invite codes before they went away, they should be turned into uninvite codes where we can delete accounts of our choice
The story of our age is billionaire narcissist men who are widely known to be frauds or creeps within their industries but are allowed to destroy the world in plain sight because American media & business view rich confidently-speaking white men through an infinitely-forgiving lens of merit.
All right, I'm calling it! Looks like Repo won by one vote! Join us this Saturday at 9PM EST for #HorrorWatch, where we shall see the madness that is Repo:The Genetic Opera

Crescent (partially illuminated) Moon and Earth facing the Sun. The Sun is just out of frame to the right leaving flares of light reaching out toward the left. NASA/Artemis II/Kevin M. Gill
This might be one of my favorites from Artemis II. A cinematic alignment of the Moon and Earth, each cradled within the warmth of sunbeams.
Taken from behind the Moon on April 6th.

Oh boy, I love when library industry organizations get careless enough to send emails asking for feedback on professional development and make the mistake to mention AI as an example.
A starfield filled with thousands of stars and shining clouds of dust. The Milky Way\u2019s elegant spiral structure is dominated by just two arms wrapping off the ends of a central bar of stars. Spanning more than 100,000 light-years, Earth is located along one of the galaxy\u2019s spiral arms, about halfway from the center. Credit: NASA
OH. MY. GOD.
THIS IS THE MILKY WAY SHOT BY THE ARTEMIS II CREW. LOOK AT ALL THOSE STARS!!!!
