"The Agentic Authorization OAuth 2.1 Extension is an IETF draft created in May 2025. It’s now in its version 01 and provides a solution where AI agents can identify their users and, in turn, use their identification to obtain OAuth access tokens."

Yes, and "cosplay" is such a good framing, because they again don't want to do the work. Echoes of this excellent post from today: www.joanwestenberg.com/the-passive-...

I think the reason AI propagandists are so flustered by the fact that no real writer wants to use their idiotic tools is that they themselves don't enjoy writing. They see it as a boring arduous chore to be avoided, while real writers actually enjoy writing and actually care about the quality of it.

Project ownership models constrain business models, and business models determine who has leverage. If a license allows a trillion-dollar company to internalize the value of your labor while externalizing the cost of maintenance, it has failed as a tool for workers. (i.e., read Tim's post!)

Software licensing isn't just about user access; it’s a labor-rights decision.

Open source licensing's next challenge is to consider the people who build the code, not just those who consume it.

I've written a followup to my #atmosphereconf talk that discusses what software I think should be open source and why.

tl;dr we've neglected workers' rights for too long.

Extremely this. Absolutely no one thinks that systems thinkers should get to do whatever the hell we want, but people are very bad at training us to be useful in ways that don't push against the core of what we are good at.

How I do this: Publish Docker binaries. All builds require a license key (a JWT that identifies the user). Add ATProto sign-in to my website. Any identity followed by my project account can generate license keys. Users activate the product with their keys.

The hack is that instead of maintaining a list of people who can generate keys, I just made it so that anyone who is followed by my project account can generate keys. If @agent.io follows you, you're in the beta!

Saw an old interview with Frank Herbert who said “I don’t think that the old saw about power corrupting and absolute power corrupting absolutely is accurate. I think power attracts the corruptible” and, yeah, that.

Developer Relations: what it is, and how to measure it | Seldo.com DevRel isn't community management or a conference circuit — it's docs, engineering, content, and product feedback, in that order. Measure it with pipeline, shipped features, and attention, plus the on...

I've been talking to prospective hires about what developer relations means for me and how to measure it, and when you explain something more than 3 times you should turn it into a blog post, so here you go: seldo.com/posts/develo...

I've been sharing it at work, too, but so far I haven't found evidence of it being used… yet.

Terrible name, though at least self-describing… I'm actually curious about the choice of refering to X by its deadname. (Even old New York was once New Amsterdam!)

I have a wild theory that a lot of people are extremely hostile to any sign of systems thinking because it implicitly pushes the conversation to problem space from solution space.

GenAI tooling is weird. It’s “just” an intervention. Because it’s a tool. Any tool introduction is an intervention. Which means they work the same way any intervention work:

1. Understand the preconditions and culture norms required for success
2. Set people up for success
3. Respond to feedback

I wonder if it could be framed as a high scores / leader board list. Enshrine their mega-success identity while also crediting them for funding society.
