A close-up selfie of me standing in front of a blooming white azalea bush in my front yard. I’m wearing black-framed glasses, a yellow baseball cap, and a tan jacket over a gray zip-up. Behind me, the dense cluster of white flowers fills the frame, with part of a red brick house and windows visible in the background. Last week we were in the 90s. It’s dropping to the 30s tonight.
Proof of life. This is the one week of the year I love this azalea bush!
A hand-knit shawl draped around a dress form, featuring a bright yellow base with sections of delicate, open lace in soft multicolored tones; pinks, blues, greens, and purples. The shawl combines garter stitch with airy, geometric lace panels. The design is the Delphia shawl by Dee O’Keefe, knit with hand-dyed yarn from The YarnSmith.
I finished this shawl in a short to 2-ish weeks. I love its spring vibes. The pattern called for a picot border and I said NOPE! 🙂↔️ There are other things I prefer more.

There is no more dangerous political idea than claiming another civilization must be annihilated to prevent the annihilation of your own civilization. This great replacement theory will lead to the annihilation of both civilizations, of all civilizations, of human civilization.
An orange Bundt cake on a white plate, its golden-brown surface glazed and slightly glossy. The cake is topped with a generous layer of bright orange zest crumble, adding texture and color across the ridges.
Invite me to brunch and I’ll bake a cute cake - I might not eat any of the other food - I’m all 🤤🤤🤤 in anticipation!

Hey 👋🏻! Do you know what feels soooooooo good right about now? When, after this day, you get to finally take off your glasses! And you get to stare into the void as a little treat! 🤗🤗😵💫🥴
Screenshot from Libro.fm showing the cover of Chain of Ideas by Ibram X. Kendi. The cover is bold red with large black text reading “CHAIN OF IDEAS” and the subtitle “The Origins of Our Authoritarian Age.” Below the cover, the title and author are listed again. The screen includes Libro.fm branding and a note that listening supports Mahogany Books.

Great. Horrifying. Worth the read but make sure to have little treats for yourself available as you read it to try to counter the crushing reality of our current era.
A wide, semicircular hand-knit shawl spread open across a dress form and chair, showing its full shape and intricate detail. The shawl features bold, multicolored stripes and varied textures—lace, eyelets, and geometric stitch patterns—in shades of pink, teal, lime green, purple, gray, and orange. The scalloped edge adds a decorative finish. This is the Shawl Smorgasbord by Stephen West, made from leftover yarns, creating a vibrant, patchwork effect.
A large, colorful hand-knit shawl draped over a dress form in a warmly lit room. The shawl features bold horizontal bands of varied textures—lace, eyelets, stripes, and geometric stitches—in a vibrant mix of colors including pink, teal, lime green, purple, orange, and blue. The eclectic, patchwork-style design is the Shawl Smorgasbord by Stephen West, created using leftover yarn from multiple projects, giving it a playful, one-of-a-kind look.
Finished this huge shawl recently. It was a lot of fun to knit. The yarn was all from partially used balls, remnants from other projects.

I read it three times last year. I adore it and it spoke right to my soul. ❤️❤️❤️
A hand-knit triangular shawl draped over a dress form against a bright yellow wall. The shawl is worked in deep navy with wavy bands of speckled pink ripples across the fabric, creating a wavy pattern. The design is “Allaria” by Nadia Crétin‑Léchenne. The yarn is from Old Rusted Chair on their Sock base in the Nautical (navy) and Jezebel Spirit (multicolored pink) colorways.
A wide, crescent-shaped hand-knit shawl stretched across a dress form. The shawl is worked in soft gray with thin blue stripes and airy lace sections that create a repeating pattern across the fabric. The design is the “Modified Butterfly Knit Shawl” by Michele Costa. It uses yarn from 29 Bridges Studio on the Merino DK base in the Bateau (blue) colorway, paired with Into the Whirled on the Dresden DK base in the Stark (gray) colorway.
Two projects I finished in the past two weeks. Both patters offer enough interest to be engaging without brain drain.

Yeah! WTF with this weather!!! 80s yesterday- plummet 50 degrees and snow today 🫨🫨😵💫 I’m not mad—confused! And here I thought the daffodils said “hello spring!”
And my stomach is growling. So apparently I’m hungry too.
Went to sleep about midnight. Insomnia woke me up at 2 am, it’s now 515 am. I should just get up. But I’m being belligerent and want to try to get any extra amount of sleep in the next 45 minutes I can. 😫😫😖😩😭
Slightly blurred photo of a daffodil in full bloom.
Spring is springing, except my home office reached 85 degrees yesterday. I was wearing fingerless gloves last week. 🤦🏻♂️
Goodnight my friends. Leave a kind comment for our fellow travelers if you are so inclined.
I say while knowingly letting tracking everything with this cute little phone! 🧡🧡🥲
Original (I didn’t research it, maybe it isn’t) artwork for the cover of George Orwell’s 1984 in bold, retro designed (maybe not original) blue lettering for the author’s name and orange for the title. This is against patina’ed beige white background with a green border. Bye bye privacy.
I’m curious if/when there is a process when libraries have to reclassify books from fiction to non-fiction? Asking for a friend.
I keep thinking about her cover of Alanis Morissette’s “Uninvited.” It was a straight forward cover, performed force and power, honoring a community that stood together to resist the uninvited gestapo!
Yes, the song is about something else, but to hear 1000s of voices singing “you’re uninvited!” 💯💯
We watched Brandi Carlile’s live stream of her show “Be Human; A Concert for Minnesota” last night. Other than streaming issues, it was fantastic.
Do yourself a favor. Gift yourself the time to sit and watch Jill Scott on Tiny Desk. Who Is Jill Scott Vol 1 came out in 2000…her voice is is still soooooo golden 🤩🫠🤤😍💯
Apollo, a fluffy gray long-haired cat, stands on a wooden staircase between white banister spindles. His mouth is open mid-meow, showing off his teeth, and his thick ruff of fur frames his face and chest.
I had a dream Apollo learned to literally cry tears to manipulate us to his even further than he has already. He’s a charming little shot, that’s for sure.
A selfie in Balboa Park, San Diego. I’m wearing sunglasses, a light gray pullover, and a plaid shirt. Behind me are trimmed hedges, flower beds, palm trees, and a romanticized Spanish Colonial-style building with a bell tower rising against a bright blue sky.
You are cute San Diego. After several days of conference rooms, I had a perfectly wonderful day wandering museums in Balboa Park.
Few things make more irate than a poorly constructed sandwich, people listening to their phone/ talking on it without earphones, and ice!
What a charming play. “The Recipe” at La Jolla Playhouse. It really warmed my heart. And it was was funny. About Julia Child’s drive to find herself and to be the best version of herself. Made me cry. 🥹🥹🥹 but are we surprised?
I think I read it in a day as well, it was among my favorites year.
The incomparable Brandi Carlile performing America The Beautiful at the Super Bowl.
A nighttime selfie of me standing on a snowy city sidewalk. I’m wearing black-framed glasses, a winter jacket, and a thick knitted scarf wrapped around my neck. Streetlights and softly lit storefronts line the street behind me, with patches of snow along the curb and sidewalk.
I left the house. Why did I do it!? I my was worth it!
