Yes, he's a really clever DJ. It's taken from this LP. If you haven't heard it before, there's a few more on here with a similar sense of humour.

7" of Early B - Visit Of King Selassie on Midnight Rock label. Originally released in 1985. My copy is a later re-press. Produced by Jah Thomas.
#OTD 60 years ago
Haile Selassie arrived in Jamaica on a 3 day state visit. He was greeted at the airport by thousands of Rastas.
Nearly 20 years later dancehall DJ Early B recalled that momentous day on this great 7"...

CD cover of Winston Samuels - Ska Authentic. Released in 2001.
And finally, Winston Samuels didn't have an LP released at the time. However, at the turn of the millennium he self-released a CD of his original 60s ska singles.
If you ever see a copy, do pick it up, it's very good...

Addis Pablo and sister Isis have revived the iconic 'Rockers' store on Kingstonβs Orange Street. Howard Campbell reports on this "sanctuary" for Augustus Pabloβs legacy, featuring a new sound system and history of the 'Java' mystic. A must-read for fans of 'King Tubbys Meets The Rockers Uptown'.
Tough choices all round. You can't please all the people all the time, even those who are putting it together! π
I always enjoy reading these pen portraits of songs and artists and always learn something new.
Great choice, and then version 2 when it got the Tubby's treatment...

Excellent. Top tunes and great writing.π
If you want a quibble, as always happens with these things, but I don't think I saw any Cutty Ranks or Ninjaman in there?
7" of Winston Samuels - Up And Down on Ska Beat label. Released in 1966. Produced by Lindon Pottinger.
Winston Samuels was a regular in the Jamaican studios back in the 1960s, recording singles for Coxsone Dodd, Prince Buster and a whole basketful for Lindon Pottinger, including this defiant ska scorcher...

Just had a quick listen, sounds like a good 80s dancehall show, but I do appreciate a tracklist too! π
Don't know. That's a new one to me. Can't even place the voice. π€·ββοΈ
Simmerdown Productions has a new release featuring Big Youth coming out later this year! Look for βSix Out of Seven Skies,β coming soon. Happy birthday, Big Youth!
Iβll add this - Big Youth voicing over rhythms at The Bakery circa 2012. Al Breadwinner live mixes in all analogue style - whilst Big Youth freestyles. In the background is former Blood & Fire co-founder Bob Harding.

Yes that is a great cover, front and back! I don't know this LP but it has all the right ingredients. Recorded at Channel One with Roots Radics and mixed by Scientist. Perfect!
Looking on discogs it only came out in the US at the time, but was recently reissued.
