Born #onthisday in 1795, Rowland Hill used to hide from the postman because his family couldn’t afford to receive letters. He went on to invent the modern postage stamp.

I love this talking statue in King Edward Street, voiced by former cabinet minister (and postman) Alan Johnson.

On this day in 1938 the first 150 children arrived here at Liverpool Street station by Kindertransport. This bronze sculpture is by Frank Meisler - himself one of the Kinder.
