5.4.1945 Endphaseverbrechen Weimar/Weibicht Noch kurz vor der kampflosen Übergabe an die US Army ermorden 11 Angehörige der Gestapo Weimar im Schlosspark im Ortsteil Tiefurt 149 Gefangene. Es ist der größte NS Massenmord in Thüringen außerhalb der Konzentrationslager. Der kommandierende SS-Obersturmbannführer Hans Helmut Wolff, auf dessen Befehl der Massenmord durchgeführt wurde, wird bei Kriegsende interniert und im Rahmen der Nürnberger Prozesse als Zeuge vernommen. Er entkommt im Okt. 1947 aus dem Internierungslager Dachau, taucht unter falschem Namen in Düsseldorf unter und verdingt sich beim britischen Militär. Er wird schließlich Geschäftsführer und Gesellschafter einer Kommanditgesellschaft und verstirbt schließlich am 1.8.1969 in Düsseldorf, ohne je für den Massenmord strafrechtlich belangt worden zu sein. #OTD #OnThisDay #Kalenderblatt #Geschichte #Geschichtsunterricht #Weimar #Düsseldorf

US-Truppen befreien das Lager am 5. April. Es ist das erste Lager mit überlebenden Häftlingen, die Auskunft über ihr Schicksal geben können. Als die US-Soldaten eintreffen, sehen sie einen Lagerkomplex mit doppeltem Stacheldraht umgeben Auf. dem Appellplatz im Lager liegen |mehrere Dutzend völlig abgemagerte Häftlinge in gestreifter Häftlingskleidung. Die Überlebenden vegetieren völlig entkräftet, ohne medizinische Versorgung und Verpflegung. Ohrdruf ist ein Sterbelager, dem die SS erkrankte Häftlinge ihrem Schicksal überließ. Als die Alliierten immer näher kommen, treibt die SS am 2.4. die marschfähigen Häftlinge zusammen. Es folgt ein Todesmarsch in das KZ Buchenwald. Auf diesem Marsch sterben unzählige Häftlinge, andere werden von der SS erschossen.
5.4.1945 NS-Zwangsarbeitslager Ohrdruf von US-Einheiten befreit. Erstes befreites Lager mit überlebenden Gefangenen, die Auskunft über ihr Schicksal geben können.
