(Li,Na)-P substitution in garnet: an indicator of ultrahigh-pressure conditions in subducted continental crust
Martin Racek, et al.

Garnet is an important carrier of Li, with implications for its mantle cycle.
The church service is about to get under way in Waterloo before we head off to the march. #Together @togetheralliance.bsky.social
It was big, being near the back we hardly moved by 3.30pm just reaching starting line, (was with christian bloc, which had a good service at oasis church waterloo first)

American Mineralogist:
A Zr-Hf geothermometer for magmatic zircon: New experiments and formulation
Leonid Aranovich, Alexander Borisov

Or is it to aid sale of tescan SEMs in Japan?
I see @shimadzuuk.bsky.social have taken over tescan, will this lead to increased marketing and potentially sales of Shimadzu EPMA in Europe and UK? I don't think there is currently any.

Universities provide an interesting testbed for adopting innovative technologies. Here is Princeton using what appears to be a very large ground source heat pump with 2,000 (!) boreholes.

Great to hear Matt Wincott talking about his paper and thesis work, looking at calculating with models temperatures and cooling rates from zoned diamonds, which is pretty cool, and involved some nice CL images from SEM and some EPMA

I’m so touched to be recognised by the @bristoluni.bsky.social with their 2026 Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award.
The picture of me as an undergraduate in the early 1980s presents a vivid reminder of just how long I’ve been involved with this work!

This looks interesting always nice to use free open source programs where possible and rapid elemental mapping of thin sections is now possible

Japanese electronics! A new electron microprobe will let us study the chemistry of minerals in micron scale detail.
Here’s an article I wrote hoping to open up discussion and bring it to attention, whilst there are more experienced people doing this.
Unfortunately seems to have lost supplementary data hoping it will be rectified
