Ohgods. It was insane. INSANE. It was very little sand, huge banks of stones. You could just perch on one and sort for hours and maybe get through a few square feet and come home with a good 2 gallon bucket of things worth tumbling. I had never seen anything like it.

It hasn't been the same since Sandy, sadly. We used to go a few times a month, but it's a few times a year lately. (There are still about half a dozen 5gal buckets of stuff to get to still in the garage -- I meant it about the free space!)

Sunset Beach is such a winner, it really is.

Wave goodbye to any spare space in your house. You will miss it when the tumbler eats it (mostly by encouraging the collection of more rocks -- this is the sad voice of experience and easy proximity to beach fossil hunting in Cape May).
