The reason I've been getting into gouache, is because I wanted to experiment with ways to create my comic! I was so happy with the grass practice today, I decided to draw Leraeth's feet to see how the gouache background would fit with a digitally drawn character!

Seeing the proof of used materials and progress in learning how to handle tools, is a feeling i never could achieve with digital art alone. And it feels great to make art with it's intended purpose: enjoyment and experimentation!
But on paper, i can see my progress and i can collect my art in fun messy piles. I am using materials which leaves empty tubes behind, papers i accidentally spilled over or ripped, and accidentally dyed all the hairs of my brushes. I also got my clothes stained! But it's all proof of my artworks.
Digital art is art, and i won't stop using the method altogether. But i think it should be up for consideration, how the digital world has warped our senses and expectations nowadays. When i close my pc, where's the art I've created? All i'm left with, is an empty room and a black screen.
On another note, I've been retreating more and more from digital art and the online scene. The expectation of professionalism, perfection and speed that's been cultivated online has destroyed my joy for art. So returning to the elements have been a freeing experience!
My boyfriend got me a gouache set for my birthday back in march, and i finally decided to pick it up! It's so much fun to see how i've improved already over the last few days! Art vent below!
