📚💙 The internet is a hole. LinkedIn. Facebook. GRAD RESEARCH. PUBLISHING. Everywhere I look is the smug, self-important voice of someone's 'personalised' glorified sentence completer machine. People are still fighting about the emdash. It was never the emdash. I dream in the cadence of AI slop.

'Recommend' appears exactly once across my two current edited manuscripts. Yes, I checked to make sure I spelled it right (I most often write without spellcheck, and 'recommend' always gets me loooollll). Here it is :-) From my #querying NA SFF, 'Obedi Corpus' #WIPSnips #WriteSky #BookSky 💙🪐 🪐📚
Todays #WIPSnips comes from my crossover sci fi, Foreign Bodies :-) there is a lot of 'fight' in this manuscript LMAO #BookSky 📚💙 📚🪐 #WriteSky #WritingCommunity

Yokai mythology, dual POV, liminal worlds, restrained slow-burn, duty and choice, earned trust. Shadow of the Fox x An Ember in the Ashes x Divine Rivals. Dark images of forests with eyes looming in the trees, a man with a katana, a torii gate, and an empty bullet train station.
A grieving girl and a duty-bound shinobi are drawn into a generational mystery rooted in the divide between human and spirit realms. As the walls between worlds collapse, they must decide whether saving both worlds means mending fractures or severing them entirely. #WSPit #WIPSnips #Q #YA #NA #F

Conceptual art piece depicting a pivotal event for the Sapphire Verdict. Sapphiria, a blue, bipedal creature called a Krysheek, stands at the center of the piece with Atom, her best friend, clutched in her hands. Behind her, lightning and ice crashes down atop a Sanctum, effectively a school, that is built atop a large plateau.
Presented with a chance to change her fate, a young, powerless outcast must rely on her engineering to challenge the mystical powers of her people and prove that she deserves the chance to be accepted.

Blue and green collage barely visible behind white text box reads: Seventeen-year-old Lark believes she understands everything about the forbidden Wilds beyond Cobalt's city borders. But when she rescues a wounded stranger—who heals too fast and remembers only the name branded into his skin, Nero—his arrival triggers an attack that ends in her uncle Roland's disappearance. Lark's search for him means teaming up with his rebel allies she's known nothing about—and takes her beyond the concrete barrier of the inner city, which reveals more than the glittering lives of the wealthy. Here, the Power Edict—the law that keeps her sector in darkness—doesn't apply. And the exiled 'androids' roaming the wilderness aren't mechanical relics of the past at all, but bio-engineered humans, created and released as tools of control.
Red collage barely visible behind white text box. Text in black reads: When they find Roland, he's in a part-metal body and staging a public demonstration of the government's newest technology: engineered children, created for violence and forced to fight for public spectacle. Lark finally understands Nero's origins. Worse still, her closest friend, Tejas, has been hiding a devastating truth about their journey all along. Lark's father is alive, and she knows saving him means standing between two boys she trusts in different ways: Tejas, her anchor through every loss, and Nero, the one she's sworn to protect, who was created with a single directive: Kill Roland.
Screenshot from users manuscript reads: Chapter 16: “Caligula? Like the emperor?” he asks. This is where I’ve heard the names together, in school texts from the before times. Caligula the cruel. Nero the depraved. Brothers, tyrants, monsters. Fitting names for weaponry, I think. “Yes.” I’m sure I’ve said the words carefully, but I feel instead like I butchered them or that, somehow, they’ve come out backwards. “Right,” Nero says. “And they had these kids. They were like you,” I look at him to see he’s deep in thought, “but they were these tiny children. And they made them—” “They made them fight.” I watch him through the silence. I can tell he’s ruminating over something. When he turns to me, the torment in his eyes is unmistakable. “That was me once, Lark. I remember.” His words feel like a punch to the throat. I’m disgusted with myself because I only feel relief, and selfishly, I’m glad I don’t need to spell it out for him. There’s no way I could explain this kindly. Subtlety was never my specialty, particularly with emotions. I have too many problems of my own to dance around the words I use on others, and whatever I have to say always comes out mangled and wrong, just like Ramona’s face, and just like all of this. I observe him in the darkness as he processes what I’ve said, or maybe what he remembers. “Do you want to talk about it?” I finally say. I wonder if he has anything from his real life. Before what they did to him, anyway. “Would you?” Nero spits the words out at me. I don’t blame him, because I remember how I’ve reacted to my own world-shattering news. He is calm, in comparison. “Nope,” I say, reaching for the bottle, but it’s empty.

Four images in a grid with AN IRRATIONAL FEAR OF BLOOD in the center. First image: a southern oak covered in spanish moss. Second: a conference room filled with empty chairs. Third: a hand holding a smartphone in front of their steering wheel, showing a 90s-era forum called Sparkle Net. Fourth: a gator's head breaking otherwise calm waters.
A southern oak dripping with spanish moss and backlit by the sun. Beneath, text: I could see the world in excruciating detail. See the breaks in the bark and the ants marching up the trunk. See the lichen in its vivid greens, splotches like a handprint. See an actual handprint on the shadowed side of the oak. See the dried blood, an outline. And see, when I tilted my head back, the body draped almost lovingly in the great arms of the big oak.
An empty conference room. Below, text: She’d even put together a buffet table. Somewhere, she’d found light blue table cloths and draped them across several long tables, even set out a few bowls of what appeared to be wilted lettuce, shredded cheese, and plain popcorn. Marring her display, though, were the bodies.
A mock up of a 90s-era internet forum called SparkleNet. Below, text: Out of habit, I checked the Sparkle Net app. There were a few new posts, nothing of interest. I used the notes to log my feeding session—always a good idea to keep track, if only to avoid double-dipping—and was just putting my phone away when I smelled it. Blood.

A mood board with a light blue background and the title The Society of Curse Breakers in the center. From left two right: a picture of an old fashioned diver, the words found family, a picture of a brick mansion, the words urban fantastic a picture of a plane, the word curses, a picture or a tunnel, the word spirits, a old fashioned sailing ship, the word pirates, a picture of a lighthouse, the word strange villians and cryptids, a map of Florida’s a swamp, the word folklore, the words diverse magic systems, a capybara, a message in a bottle.
To break a curse she is wrongly accused of casting, Alice must team up with a crew of untrained magic wielders and sail treacherous seas, battling folktales and cryptids. A map of riddles guides their way, but the family secrets it reveals may be the most deadly barrier of all. #wspit #q #f #nd
"L'entrée du prince de Ligne à Londres 1660", painted by François Duchatel in 1660, depicting the arrival of a great procession of ambassadors walking in fine clothes and riding in coaches, watched by a huge crowd of Londoners. Text over it reads: THE DUEL IN 1660: a queer swashbuckling farce.
"The arrival of King Charles II of England in Rotterdam, may 24 1660" by Lieve Verschuier, showing many ships with the Flag of Holland/States Flag. The grand ship bearing Charles II has his royal arms carven on the stern. Text over it reads: England, 1660: the restoration of the monarchy. In Charles II's triumphant wake, a Royalist family quietly returns, but not with their single daughter—instead, with their single son. 15-year-old Alexander—vain, hot-tempered, and warm of heart—expects to strut in as an aristocratic peacock. But when his ambitions are frustrated, he's sucked instead into intrigues of questionable honour and forced to reckon with what it really means to be a man.
"Man Writing a Letter" by Gabriël Metsu, painted around 1665. A Dutch young man, beautiful and androgynous with long blond hair, wears black doublet, breeches, and stockings and a luxurious white shirt and falling band. His expression is tranquil and far-off as he writes a letter on a table draped with an imported carpet. Text over it reads: Pray enjoy this tempest in a teapot, crafted of the purest tropes and set in the Age of the Rakehells, featuring: glamour and grime of 17th century Westminster. goofy action punctuated by primal screams of rage. problematic characters for miles. petticoat breeches parkour. queer mentorship. romantic friendship (or maybe 'tis just gay, oops). boys who cry. a lot. and somehow, everything turning out all right in the end.
Detail of "View from the Mussel Pier in Amsterdam", painted by Ludolf Bakhuizen in 1673, showing a peaceful sky over a ship with two gulls. Text over it reads: Alexander stood at the edge of the deck, one hand clutching the railing, the other fastened tight on the brim of his hat as he leaned out over the waves. He was not much afraid of falling in, though he had never swum anything choppier than a pond. Rather, he was afraid that his Acadian fur hat, the most expensive for sale in the shop on the Kalverstraat, might fly off his small crown and flap with its feathers all the way to water—which, like the sky, could not quite decide between blue and grey. There was no one to see him aside from the sailors and now Klein, climbing up from below. Still, he had meticulously dressed that morning, down to every last ribbon. He’d had a very specific vision of himself when the suit was being ordered: the azure he’d picked was not just brighter than everything around him on the fluyt but even the true sky itself, and he sparkled with silver, when the wind tugged his doublet and loose breeches, and gold, when the little light managed to catch on his sword’s hilt. It was imperative, one must understand, that he look extremely stylish doing battle, should pirates suddenly appear to satisfy his fantasies. And indeed, at fifteen, he thought himself quite the dashing young man—not the boy he was.

From the last chapter of 'Foreign Bodies,' out on fulls. Never knew a book could be too risky for a debut! I think I'll query something more marketable next. I'm too busy with grad study to indiepub. But at least it's... good for a second series? #WIPSnips #BookSky #WriteSky #WritingCommunity 📚🪐💙

Hey! What the heck, that's me! Y'all, I can't stress enough how good this resource is. If you're on the fence or outside of the American market like I am here in Aus, I really recommend signing up. Invaluable info + industry insight for a low cost. #BookSky
I'm all the way in Aus & these clowns playing dress-up in Amazon uniforms make me sick. Why would anyone comply with a barking, masked stranger with no warrant & their hand on a gun? Be strong, American pals. Pls link me to any crowdfunding, would love to donate.
