RIP Roy Thomas Baker. A great producer. As a kid, I remember regularly watching a VHS of Queen: The Magic Years where he was interviewed about the making of Bohemian Rhapsody. I couldn’t find a clip from that but this is just as insightful, if not more. youtu.be/TA5VRNzQLc4?...

Just to confirm, I think I prefer Deep Purple Mk. 3 over all others. That is all.
Another of yesterday’s pick ups. A nice US copy of this album. Probably in my Top 3 Fleetwood Mac albums… It is amazing to think that Station Man survived the live set over the years. But Earl Gray is the highlight for me. Here’s a lovely acoustic demo featuring Peter Green: youtu.be/o9hs_rFXbPg?...
A fun trip to London today visiting the Spitalfields vinyl market and Flashback (which is probably one of my favourite record shops). After what feels like ages searching for decent copies, I brought home these two Talk Talk original UK pressings. Very happy.
RIP Garth Hudson. Such a fantastic player with a unique sound courtesy of his Lowery organ. Unmatched. youtu.be/TaKD1Vdarnw?...
Excellent article on the Yardbirds in this month’s Record Collector with some positive words about the box set I mastered. Even if you are only a minor fan, do check out Ultimate Live At The BBC if you get the chance! It is fascinating to hear the band’s take on Dazed and Confused!
Took a weekend trip to Liverpool for my birthday. Getting old. Nothing to get hung about.
Happy 2025. I have mostly been listening to some old vinyl bootlegs. This is a gem from 1986 I recently found (along with another 8 volumes!). I would also argue that some of the tracks sound better than the versions officially released by Apple on the official BBC sets. #beatles #vinyl
Today I have been digesting this beast. The US configurations have always piqued my interest and it is nice to own fresh analogue pressings! Two albums in and sounding pretty darn good!
This years Apple Music Replay in Albums, because that’s what I tend to listen to. I think the Lemon Twigs would take the crown for my top album of 2024 though, followed by The Smile’s Cutouts.
As if 18 minidiscs wasn’t enough, a whole hour of new OK Computer outtakes has leaked… There is some really interesting stuff here including a full band Last Flowers and the mythical Dogwander (labelled Get Around here). Enjoy! youtu.be/QnS8raCrvI0?...
Thanks Amazon! I think you knew deep down that when I ordered that David Bowie LP, what I actually really wanted to be sent was a *checks package* Cardi B LP…
A combination of tools, cleaning with Izotope RX10, using various stem separation models to extract noise and speech on MVSEP etc, careful alignment of sources in my DAW (Ableton). Came together quickly, around 6 hours work all together.
Thank you! I’ll set up a site soon but you can also reach me via Discord (escapist1234).
This was a fun thing to work on! Happy 20th Half-Life 2 and thanks to @tylermcvicker.bsky.social

I’m not sure how many Bonzo fans are residing on Bluesky yet but do check out the wonderful forthcoming release here: burningshed.com/bonzo-dog-do...
Last night I had the pleasure of attending the BFI for the launch of the Bonzo Dog’s upcoming box set that I provided some material for. A wonderful evening and the restored Colour Me Pop episode was fantastic. Also a pleasure to meet the legend that is @marklewisohn.bsky.social! Thank you Mark!
My 1st Bluesky post. Maybe I will try to use this more than my other neglected social media dumping grounds. (I’m looking at you, Threads…)
