Ever wanted to see how a coral skeleton grows? In this paper (led by: @jtrendbio.bsky.social) www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... we use Live CT, a method of scanning live organisms using microCT, to visualise how the skeleton grew over about one month.

My alma mater, Leicester University, is dissolving its Geology Department leading to the loss of 14 staff. Palaeo is being completely axed, despite Leicester's long and storied history in this area (and its current strengths). Please sign this petition!!: www.change.org/p/save-geolo...
thank you!
hello, could you please add me too? thank you!
New paper(s) alert! Check out @agu.org Palaeoceanography & Paleoclimate. Including our piece on best practices going forward for d11B-CO2 reconstructions. agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/...
including @case4climate.bsky.social, @michaelhenehan.bsky.social,... @eleniwater.bsky.social.
Are you looking for a master's internship (5-6 months)?
Early Pleistocene deep ocean carbon storage in the Caribbean Sea 🌎🌊
Come to
@climatecerege.bsky.social, south of France☀️🇫🇷
Deadline: 30 Nov 2025.
Start: Jan-Feb 2026.

You will work on palaeoceanography supervised by Matthieu Paulhac Buisson, me,
@chalkyoceans.bsky.social & Kazuyo Tachikawa.
You will use B/Ca ratios as well as O and C stable isotopes in benthic foraminifera to study past carbon storage dynamics.
Day5, #ICP15 , final act is our perspective talk from Thomas Westerhold taking about the Time Machine : #Stratigraphy is the Backbone of #Palaeoceanography what a wonderful way to end the #ICP15 ☺️
Age (age model) before the beauty (proxy-records)
😀
Day 4, #ICP15 , panel discussion on Tropical Monsoon Climate
On stage Pedro DiNezio @triptychphrases.bsky.social @edhathorne.bsky.social AD Singh River Shen and @antacl.bsky.social
What is the underlying physics/working that good models get it right compare to other models -data-model integration
Anta delivering her #ICP15 talk in Bengaluru.
Future (and past) @climatecerege.bsky.social superstar @antacl.bsky.social giving her #ICP15 talk now. Modelling the Indian monsoon in the Miocene, and some important praise to the organisers for their diverse programme of speakers. Bravo!
Day 4, #ICP15 , @edhathorne.bsky.social talking about South Asian Monsoon climate control of Neogene to Pleistocene silicate weathering 🙏🏼
@eleniwater.bsky.social kicking off the #ICP15 with early Cenozoic climate carbon relationship 🙏🏼
Sad news Paleoceanography researchers - a colleague told me that Prof Markus Kienast at Dalhousie just passed away after a short battle with cancer. www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/h...
Excellent paper by Thomas Westerhold and colleagues using precise dating of marine sediments using astronomical #Milankovitch cycles to tease out the timing of #volcanism and #meteorite #impact during the extinction of the non-avian #dinosaurs

A photo of IPCC working group leads and a statement that "Following the panel's agreement on the outlines of the three Working Group contributions to the Seventh Assessment Report, the IPCC is calling for nominations of experts to assess the body of scientific literature relating to climate change."
Heads up! The @ipcc.bsky.social is calling for nominations for Lead Authors and Review Editors for its 7th Assessment Report.

🚨1 post doc & 1 lab tech position advertised at GEOMAR🚨
on ERC CoG project "HighBorG". Cool B isotopes, forams & fossil 🪸, climate reconstructions of key past warm periods! Flexible starting date & position duration
Due Sep 1: www.geomar.de/en/karriere/...
Due Aug 15: www.geomar.de/en/karriere/...
On my way to board Polarstern, but need to at least thank all who cheered-supported this research, too many to include here, but you know your name:) Thank you!
So happy to share the news that my ERC CoG project #HighBorG has been funded! Millennial scale carbon/CO2-climate reconstructions and Earth system modelling during the Eocene, Oligocene, and Miocene, new methods and archives, exciting times ahead
at GEOMAR!
