And happy birthday to Her Majesty Elaine May!

Homicide: Life on the Street 3x20 is one of the best episodes of the show, mostly thanks to these two being so much fun together. A slighty different dynamic but kind of the same energy and chemistry of De Niro and Grodin in Midnight Run
Nathalie Baye in Day For Night saying: "I'd drop a guy for a film. I'd never drop a film for a guy!"
the late Nathalie Baye (RIP) in Godard's SAUVE QUI PEUT (LA VIE) ['Every Man For Himself,' 1980], which brought the first of her three César wins—Best Supporting Actress.
Not only is this the only performance in a Godard film to win a César, it's also the only one ever nominated.
Your Gosha posting inspired me to check him out.
Hard to believe this was his debut. The camera movements are slick and exciting, and while the character are a bit derivative the class commentary makes their motive feel authentic.
What's striking is the extraordinary blocking.
Johnnie To saw this
thinking about ann reinking in all that jazz 🌟
He should cast Barbara Bouchet and Ornella Muti
There's still hope until someone describes it as "Lynchian". Once that starts floaating around you can be sure it's cooked
Happy End (2017)

Fernando Leo's Caliber 9
Rest in power Mario Adorf
Watch Caliber 9, my favorite Polizziottesco
Yeah love Mungiu
I wish Serra was there, but can't be too greedy. Many heavy hitters
Great Cannes line up. My most anticipated is Zvyagintsev's Minotaur
After learning that Farhadi's Parallel Tales is inspired by the Dekalog VI it has skyrocked at the top of my watchlist tho
The novel The Friends of Eddie Coyle. The movie too, but especially the novel
angst essen seele auf / ali: fear eats the soul (1974, dir. r.w. fassbinder) 🎥
Yeah, honestly reading some of what the devs have said I'm not even sure that polls will come shorty after private data lol They don't see it as a priority. But I think that private posts and group chats alone would attract some new people and hopefully bring some diversity like you said
they need to add private data at protocol level, which is a thing they are working on but not easy. That will make possible having private accounts, group chats, polls etc. They said it will be done in 2026, so we'll see
For my little understanding the site was built in a way (to avoid another Elon buying it) that right now polls would not be private, which is fine to me. Who cares if it shows I picked that I like X-Files season 2 more than the first? But some people might not like that. In order to be private...
On this day in the year 2000, Janice Soprano cooked dinner for her fiancé Richie. It did not end well.
The first five minutes of The Driller Killer are so good and evocative and they feel like the foundation of many of the visuals obsessions of Noè and Refn
Odessa A'zion in Marty Supreme
One could do a lot worse than spending the rest of their life with her. Laszlo Toth will have ended up in a much worse place.
These two films feels definitively in conversation to me. Someone should write a piece about it
1 Screenshots from the movie "Chungking Express" (1994): First, a man seen from behind scratches his head while standing in a brightly lit, colorful convenience store filled with snacks, drinks, and magazines, as the subtitle reads, "We broke up on April Fool's Day, so I took it as a joke."
Apr 1st - Police officer He Qiwu is dumped by his girlfriend named May on 1 April.

Also I would like to read some of your thoughts during the festival on here, as I don't think there'll be many people covering it on bsky sadly
Yeah, I liked what I saw from last year's, and i still have to catch up on some big ones like Resurrection
Let's say there's more star power, which It could mean nothing but those are all directors I really like and almost never miss
There also should be the new Refn, Schoenbrun, Serra and Hamaguchi. It's shaping out to be a better edition the last. You're fortunate
I haven't watched it yet but I loved everything I've seen from Johnnie To so I'm sure it must be great
1993
Have you ever wanted to watch a giallo by the way of Goodbye, Dragon Inn and The Exterminating Angel?
Check this one out!

After a Pynchonian film like Under the Silver Lake, it makes sense for him to follow it up with one where the premise could pass for one of TP's throwaway jokes
