The youth mental health crisis began long before the pandemic. If we are serious about reducing kids' suffering, here's a (not-exhaustive) list of what needs to happen.... Feel free to add more, and also to tell any/all stakeholders that it's time for serious action!
everything about this is awesome
in our skills video study (with 14 skills), the most liked skills were DEARMAN and Radical Acceptance. The skills rated as most relevant were self-soothe and Distract (both crisis survival)
or what people will like most (to get them engaged). Remember that as comprehensive treatment for BPD, people would be in skills group for a year- you have time to sell them on skills and discuss how it's relevant and core. In all these new studies trying to reduce time (incl. mine), you lose a lot
I will have to read this closely as I'm noticing feelings of disappointment arise. :) Also- remember that the Simon study included only 4 DBT skills. That detail usually doesn't make it past the headlines.
I'm here! but i still don't know how this works . . .
I will be there!
I'm impressed, Allison! :)
