Bee happy, it's contagious!

Missed headline on this one: "Bee happy, its contagious"
I can relate. I always bring my own food when I travel, but often still attend ticketed events to participate (e.g. mixers or lunches), but then need to decide if eating what is provided will cause problems. Knowing menu in advance might help people decide if paying for access is worth it
Some of the solutions we discussed to address various food barriers (e.g. cost, transportation, dietary restrictions, asking for help) included:
- a conference food pantry stocked by member donations ($ donated in reg or food brought to conf)
- an official (and low/no cost) ride service

We must not capitulate to the attacks on DEI in science and academia. Here is a must-read outlining some of the reasons why.

For context, I'm a 45-year-old cis/bi man with a biology PhD and just got an ADHD diagnosis after a lifelong challenge. I'm in my first few days of using methylphenidate and, within an hour, was locked in on a really deep dive into neuropharmacology.
Can you tell me more about stimulant challenges as a diagnostic tool for ADHD? This is the first I've heard of medication being used before diagnosis.

Plant evolutionary ecology has lost a very rare talent. Shu-Mei was a genuinely kind, whip-smart, reasonable, creative, bright light of a person.

Ted Cruz said he’d found $2 billion in “woke” science grants, but his team used keyword searches that flagged things out of context, like a grant to develop a device to treat severe bleeding that mentioned “victims” and “trauma.”

There's a super fun story about these spurless Columbines! Pollinators mainly visit flowers for nectar, but these nectarless populations were very stable, and this study found both molecular & biological basis for these supposedly disadvantageous forms. 🧪
