Thank you!! 😊
I’m writing a short story collection about Canadian soldiers in the Afghanistan War. @TheNewQuarterly.bsky.social published one of those stories yesterday! I’ve been a fan of TNQ for a while, so I’m thrilled to see my words in its pages. #WritingCommunity #5amWritersClub #LitMag #AmWriting #BookSky

“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it.”

Women by Erika Schmidt
Women has a Film Noir feeling to it. Cinema and literature have a big influence in what I do. Creating images that can have a story or narrative is something that I quite enjoy.

Every time I reread this book it hit me differently. When I was an angsty teen I thought Holden had life figured out 😆.
It gets a reaction 🙃
I’ve had some luck reaching out to authors via social media. I find they are usually happy to respond and chat a bit. However, I don’t try contacting the mega bestseller @stephenking.bsky.social types, more so the mid-level authors.

The Gentleman by Erika Schmidt
The Gentleman is a photograph taken at the Opera House in Vienna. This This is a man of mystery, he could be a spy, who knows? I like thinking up little stories to go with my pictures.

I just finished the reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy and it absolutely destroyed me. Having a small son, and having just lost my father, this horrific masterpiece hit close to home. It reminded me to cherish every moment with my little boy and helped me appreciate the good in my life.
