I sure do wonder how the tech/billionaire class thinks this will work out for them, when their chosen little boy crushes the whole world's economy and normies start hunting for people to blame. There's no marketing campaign that'll fix "allied with Trump."

AI is a symptom of our society's rejection of expertise. Not everyone can be a nuclear physicist. Its not their talent, its not their gift.
Not everyone can be a writer but AI enthusiasts dont want to accept that. Ultimately they don't care about the art they just want the rhythm but no respect

I keep seeing "all authors use AI, the real issue is they're being forced to be sneaky about it" headlines.

Full stop No. This is a lie peddled for normalization. It's schoolyard-level pressure tactics "C'mon, all the cool kids are already doing it. We won't tell. It's fine. We're on your side."

Still, I don’t think she’s going to do it because I don’t think she sees her values represented in the Liberal party. I think it’s more likely she would resign her seat before she would switch parties.

I doubt she will. I don’t think she’s an opportunist like that. I could see her leaving to run as ANDP leader should Neshi lose, though.

It’s so much more fun being a Jays fan than it is being a Leafs fan. Even when the Leafs were mostly winning it seemed like the players didn’t care enough and their fans were always angry. With the Jays, it’s like a revelation to realize I can cheer for a team and actually enjoy it.

He’s been talking about it since the beginning of the campaign, though. I have often heard him say that in order for the NDP to support the Liberals in any future minority government, the Liberals would have to first agree to a system of proportional representation.

Probably the latter. I was actually a tiny bit happy for him when they won gold. It was what happened after, that made me lose a lot of respect for him.

I agree that we should provide more financial support to Olympic athletes even if it doesn’t benefit us personally. In a time when we are under attack, we need to support things that contribute to our national identity. I would include funding for the arts, as well.

Maybe both?

The result was disappointing but I’m not at all disappointed in the way Canada played. Sometimes the breaks just don’t go your way.

I agree. I was disappointed in the result but not at all disappointed in the way they played. This was one of the most exciting best-on-best tournaments I have ever seen.

Now comes a winter of ghosts and those beasts that live at the edges of fever when it has turned to shiver. In this season's shortened light, rain grows sharp teeth and wind becomes a spearpoint against bones. Even dawn seems reluctant to hoist hope high. – #DAKilroy, 1982 #Dawn

introduce yourself with five concerts you've seen

Pearl Jam (twice)
Bob Dylan
U2
Neil Young
The Tragically Hip (many times)

And I’ll always regret the time I was in Verona, Italy and could have seen Radiohead at the Roman arena beside our hotel. Instead I left a day early.

I just happened to notice how one of my favourite books is rated on Goodreads, and it confirmed to me that Goodreads ratings are nearly always wrong.

I’m really liking what I hear from Avi Lewis, so far.

Linda McQuaig: With Carney’s budget prioritizing the business elite, could this be Canada’s Mamdani moment? NDP leadership candidate Avi Lewis, like New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, openly advocates taxing the rich in order to provide benefits for ordinary people. Now there’s a wild idea.

With Mark Carney coming out as a true banker, the moment is ripe for left-wing populist Avi Lewis -- who knows the wealth doesn't trickle down. #cdnpoli #canlab #NDP www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

Not too surprising when the Prime Minister is really just a moderate conservative.

Based on the series in LA, it seems like the key to neutralizing Ohtani is to keep him up way past his bedtime for one night.
