I genuinely think Nintendo, for some reason, is afraid of making a game where you play as a non-human. It made no sense to force a human default form in Pokopia.
Eg: No new PMD, still having to be human in Animal Crossing, Pokopia forcing human form...
I think Pokopia shows that there is still a large audience for a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games.
People do, have, and still love Pokemon games where the Pokemon are the main characters rather than the humans. People want to play games where you live as a Pokemon.
