This time last week | was at the final evening at Tate Britain for Turner & Constable: Rivals & Originals exhibition.
This hadn't been seen in Britain for over a century:

The final goal was the 100th of the season. Hutton deservedly promoted with 93 points. Second should be automatic promotion with a third through the playoffs. But second means home games for the semifinal and final, if we get there. The 1712 crowd is a CCFC record home attendance #CCFC

Clapton and Hutton players shake hands before a game

Congratulations to Hutton, who are promoted as worthy champions of the Eastern Counties League Division One South 👏

We pushed them to the final day but Hutton have been relentless with a 24-game unbeaten run and finish the season three points ahead.

West Ham United v Leeds United in the league in January 2022

West Ham v Leeds today in the FA Cup 3rd round. Last FA Cup game was 4 years ago, third round, we won 2-0. We lost to them 3-2 a week later in the league, Jack Harrison scoring a hat trick. As we play Leeds at home on the last day of the season, wonder if Hammers fans would accept the same results?

The Mojave Indians weaving Blue Flax, and Captain Beefheart's liking of Bo Diddley, all nodding to The Seeds. (Sky Saxon once told me that Thee Headcoats played the way The Seeds should have.)"

Billy says about the song:
"Keep Mojave Weird' is a tune about the road trip I took with my family to the Southwest in 2025. It mentions three UFOs which I saw over Pioneertown, the lone phone box they've got in the desert

Been to so many gigs, but only a couple of matinee shows. Maybe more artists should play them? This time last Saturday I was enjoying Wild Billy Childish & CTMF at the Lexington and it was brilliant. This is Keep Mojave Weird, which, Billy pointed out, was promoting his new EP #WildBillyChildish

matgeorgewhu The Rose Wylie exhibition The Picture Comes First @royalacademyarts
is on for another fortnight, closing on April 19. It's in the Main Galleries in Burlington House, and this is:
Pink Table Cloth, Short Shot Film Notes)
2013
Oil on canvas
The reviews have been decent, if somewhat patronising about Wylie's age. Some of the comments have been on the lines of, “I could have done that”, but they didn't, and couldn’t. And there were plenty of people enjoying it when I visited.

The Alessandro Mendini exhibition @estorickcollection in Islington until May 10
Includes Futurist Masks, of five significant figures in the movement. This one Giacomo Balla (1871-1958), whose oil on canvas The Hand of the Violinist (1912) is in the permanent collection, so a ticket for the fabulous Mendini exhibition means you can also go upstairs and see it

Saturday afternoon is the right time for a couple of examples of the surprisingly rare art/ football Venn diagram. From the Rose Wylie exhibition The Picture Comes First at the Royal Academy in Piccadilly, central London until April 19. The first is Arsenal & Spurs (2006, oil on canvas). I'm not sure if the shirt numbers are accurate to a specific match. The second is Yellow Strip, also oil on canvas, 2006, featuring Wayne Rooney, Thierry Henry, Ronaldinho, Jens Lehmann and John Terry.

Don’t think I will ever really understand why The Blue Aeroplanes aren’t the biggest band in the known universe. The double LP Magical Realism: The Best of The Blue Aeroplanes 1985-2025 is a good place to start. There’s a 7-inch included with Showing Off To Impress The Girls, from origin story group Art Objects in 1981 (and a demo of new song I Will Love You). The cover art is a painting by Ann Sheldon.
