New to the idea of adding Alt Text to images? This is the best thread I’ve seen explaining what and why. The basic idea is to write a brief description of any image you post. For people who can’t see the image well and need a text-based option.

Most years we spend a meeting making seed bombs (little clay shapes with a pinch of native wildflower seeds in them). We give the youth the clay and they always impress us with their creativity and ingenuity.
Then at a later date (like tonight) we go out on a beautiful spring evening and throw them into a vacant lot or meadow.
This year was particularly poignant as we were throwing bombs that give life, instead of the ones that take it that are falling all around the world.
We talked about how one way to be certain about an uncertain future is to take action that will bear fruit later on.
We can't say everything that will happen next spring, but we can say with some certainty that there will be flowers. Why? Because we put them there.
And sometimes that's the best you can do.

I love this beautiful little reflection from kiddo's Woodcraft group leader after tonight's guerrilla gardening expedition in the city. So grateful for leaders like this. ❀️

Today we remember the horrific tragedy of the Columbine shooting. 27 years later, it is a disgrace that gun violence is still the leading cause of death for children in America.

An astronaut floats alone above Earth during a spacewalk, surrounded by the blackness of space, with the blue curve of the planet visible below.

This iconic 1984 photo is often called one of the most terrifying space images ever.

During STS-41-B on Space Shuttle Challenger, astronaut Bruce McCandless II became the first person to perform an untethered spacewalk.

3 Southern California residents sentenced in bear suit insurance fraud scheme Three Southern California residents have been sentenced in a bizarre insurance fraud scheme which prosecutors say involved them staging fake bear attacks on high-end cars.

People tried to scam insurance by dressing up as a bear and wrecking luxury cars.

"Investigators then took the video to biologists with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to also look at the video. The biologists said, 'it was clearly a human in a bear suit.'"

Crows remember human faces. For years. If you wrong one, it will tell other crows about you β€” and they'll harass you too. Even crows that never met you!

This is not just a bird. This is one of the most intelligent animals on the planet.
