A œ review of Brooklyn 45 (2023) Brooklyn 45 should be right up my street. Small cast, one location, sĂ©ance setup, loads of potential for tension and some properly nasty turns. Instead, it just plods along like it’s got nowhere to be. The problem is simple. The characters are boring. You’re stuck with them the whole time, and there’s nothing about them that makes you care. So when the film leans hard into long conversations about guilt, war, and past relationships, it just feels like noise rather than anything meaningful. It’s clearly going for that slow-burn, dialogue-heavy vibe, but there’s no hook to keep you in it.

Great setup, absolutely nothing done with it. All talk, no tension, no scares. Just dull characters chatting in a room while you slowly lose interest.

A ★★★ review of Bull (2021) Bull drops you straight into a bleak, small-town underworld and keeps things tight from the off. It’s a simple setup. A man returns to settle scores with the people who wronged him. No fluff, no detou...

Lean, nasty revenge thriller with Neil Maskell in full simmering menace. Bull hits that Dead Man’s Shoes / Kill List tone perfectly
until a late twist that feels more bolted on than earned. Solid, but doesn’t quite stick it.

A sincere and quietly powerful true story, I Swear shines through its central performance and message, even if it never quite becomes gripping cinema. More admirable than entertaining
 but still worth your time.

A ★★ review of Send Help (2026) There’s a version of Send Help that absolutely works. You can feel it trying to break through. A nasty, stripped-back survival story with Lord of the Flies chaos and Misery style psychological tension...

Send Help tries to channel Sam Raimi’s chaotic charm but ends up feeling like a stitched-together survival flick with occasional splashes of goo. A few fun moments, but mostly a missed opportunity with a painfully weak script.

Trakt Web: Track Your Shows & Movies Trakt Web: A new, lightweight way to track your favorite movies and TV shows.

Scream 7 proves even the smartest horror franchise can run out of things to say. A few savage kills land, but the endless callbacks and character resurrections drain the tension. Time to hang up the mask.

Cold Storage is scrappy B-movie fun. Joe Keery basically plays “ghetto Steve Harrington,” Liam Neeson does his Liam Neeson thing, and the film leans into goo, fungal zombies and ropey CGI. Messy, silly and honestly better because of it!

Whistle (2026) has a killer premise: what if your future death showed up early to claim you? Sadly it spends most of its time remixing Final Destination and Smile. A few fun kills (that car crash is solid) but the script never quite lands.

Marty Supreme (2026) looks great and swings big, but it never hits the suffocating brilliance of Good Time or Uncut Gems. Chalamet commits fully, yet the character is more irritating than magnetic. Worth watching. Not essential.

Oh. What. Fun. is a Christmas film allergic to joy. Privileged narcissists cosplay victimhood, nick Home Alone for its finale, drown it in fake snow, and call it heart. Miserable from frame one to credits.

The Black Phone 2 goes bigger and nastier. More blood, more gore, full CGI nightmare fuel wrapped in grimy 80s VHS vibes. Freddy and Jason fingerprints all over it, but it deepens the mythos and gives Finn and Gwen a solid, creepy dynamic.

A small, scruffy British gem. Time Travel Is Dangerous swaps CGI for warm humour, painfully English awkwardness and a bargain-bin time machine that somehow works. Spaced meets early Doctor Who with a charity shop budget, and it is weirdly lovely.

PTA drops a banger. DiCaprio switches from wild freedom fighter to washed dad with hilarious ease, Penn is pure venom, and the whole thing plays like a Black Mirror riff on modern America. Smart, tense, political without preaching.
