Who's still in town from #InfoComm25 and wants to do something this evening? DM me if you'd like to get together!

Well, it looks like InfoComm this year is going to be a little soggy.

Every project is different. Some clients demand it on their network, some demand that it never touches their network. Both require different methods for deployment. Some clients' IT dept don't always properly setup their network for AVoIP systems, but claim they did. It canget frustrating #AVintheAM

Some do, some want the cheapest cameras they can get. There are some features broadcast equipment generally lacks, like EDID and proper HDCP management that throw some weird issues from time to time. Some broadcast systems need an operator to work right, and many don't want to pay for it #AVintheAM

As always, it depends on the client. Some clients even have different needs depending on the space. Some spaces may be a "VIP" space since the meetings held there involve "important" people. Those spaces will have different Service needs than "normal" rooms #AVintheAM

I feel audio coverage for all room users is more important than having the audio come from a particular direction. Especially in larger spaces where you would need to cover all areas with speakers large enough for proper coverage and SPL levels. #AVintheAM

Most likely, no. Also, AI may learn some of the more "popular" controls needed for a system, but it isn't going to know the specific controls a particular client may require be on their UI. Every client has their own specific needs that they want to see #AVintheAM

The creating a digital signal from analog. This ability makes everything else possible: from transmitting the AV signals longer distances without deteriorating, also then being able to packetize them and send them over a network. This is the single task that makes everything else possible #AVintheAM

Understanding where the current tech came from can help answer why things are done a certain way. I still love older analog live mixing consoles. I love seeing all the knobs, and know exactly the status of everything without needing to pull up another "page" on a screen to check it #AVintheAM

AV-over-IP is just another tool in the toolbox. You need to know how it works, and when you can use it, and more importantly, when you CAN'T use it! Yes, it works for a majority of "general AV" systems, but there are tons of use-cases in when it won't work well. #AVintheAM

I always have to give credit to @mike-pedersen.bsky.social learning from him always doing the right thing, even when it costs the company money. I'm always willing to help out anyone, with any question. Please reach out, and I will do what I can! #AVintheAM

Why aren't Americans filling the manufacturing jobs we already have? Leaders from both major political parties have been working to bring back manufacturing. But American manufacturers say they are struggling to fill the manufacturing jobs we already have.

To all those who think that building more manufacturing here in the US is the "solution", there's already a shortage of people filling the manufacturing jobs we have currently, let alone new ones: www.npr.org/sections/pla...

Projection is still the leader when it comes to large displays per dollar. DVLED give you a much better quality image, but projectors are still cheaper. Also, projection is easier to project onto architecture elements for very creative solutions. #AVintheAM

Many of these special systems require non-standard resolutions and refresh rates. Video distribution hardware selection is essential to properly get the video signal from source to projectors. Sometimes what works for "general AV" doesn't work well for these systems #AVintheAM

Laser projection really has created projectors that don't need "disposable" lamps or filters. These brighter projectors last for 20,000 hours with almost zero maintenance after they are installed. LED projectors just aren't really bright enough to create benefits yet. #AVintheAM

I wouldn't say they are AI, but I would say that AUTOMATED tools make aligning and warping of projectors make deploying and maintaining these systems easier than ever before. Making these systems accessible to more applications #AVintheAM

These three things are just basic math and geometry: If you need to project on a certain area, you need a certain lens to make the throw distance happen. The brightness is determined by your ambient light level. At least it's a starting point, then use the budget to tweak it from there #AVintheAM

Take some breaks during the show, and just sit down. Even if it's just in the eating areas of the conv center. Taking a few minutes off your feet can really give you a 2nd wind #AVintheAM

This is a big tip whenever you travel with a per-diem. Save money on breakfast, and not eat as much for dinner if you can utilize those late-night snacks. Unfortunately in vegas, many of the hotels won't empty their minibars for you to utilize for your stuff.

There's not enough time to see/hit everything or meet everyone. The reps that make routine rounds to you or have components you don't need to see you can probably skip to explore ones that you don't see as often. Also, tell those you'd like to see them more often #AVintheAM

I try to get more education sessions before the show floor opens. Sessions during the floor sometimes makes it hard to get to and meet with everyone on the floor. I wish more sessions were Monday/Tuesday, and less on Wed-Friday. #AVintheAM

There's articles online about everything. See products in person on things that matter in-person. I like seeing displays and hearing speakers in person. You can't see that stuff in an online article or online training. Video quality is something that's hard to see online too. #AVintheAM

Having casual conversations are often more valuable than ones on the show floor. You learn about things that they may not tell you in an "official" setting. It's a week of not much sleep. Everyone has to find their own personal balance that will work for them #AVintheAM

Start with the vendors/groups that you use or belong to. Meet with your reps for those. Find education sessions that appeal to you, mingle outside them before/after the session and talk to people. Go to the @avixa.bsky.social booths/stages and pay attention to whose talking #AVintheAM

Face to Face is huge. Even if you come to Orlando, stay at a cheap hotel, and just talk to people at the companies you want to work for, get your name in their heads! Also, learn about where the tech trends are going. Attend after parties to make yourself known. Give out personal "cards" #AVintheAM

Network. Get involved in the conversation online, or be a part of groups like @avixa.bsky.social, HETMA, or more regional groups. When vendors come from out of town, make sure you attend those meetings, learn to be good with names and faces #AVintheAM

For us, internal referrals are huge, but you also need to make sure the new teammate fits the culture of the employer. If it's a culture miss-match, both the new employee and the team will struggle to mesh well #AVintheAM

All of the above. The more comfortable anyone can be with hands-on experience along with the certifications will be huge for any employer to hit the ground running. #AVintheAM

Get certifications, combine those in AV (CTS/-I/-D, along with manuf certs) along with ones in IT, network security, and enterprise networks. That combination will make you very desirable #AVintheAM
