Hunters, Gatherers 1 Late fall the white fur grew up your spine thick as the tail of a marten. I fell into a dream of milk and skin, on the bed of pelts in the winter cabin. And didn’t I, so green with sleep, track you ...

Will your skin shake off
its fur, your claws remember
they were fingers? And the hands,
meaty as paws, soften into
what I once could stroke or suckle?

This study only looked at Westerners, where there's a high density of public lands. However, a 2016 survey that asked similar questions, showed broad support for public lands nationwide.

Survey: Support for Public Land Protections at All-Time High The study’s results come amid mass firings of public land workers and mounting pressure to develop more lands for energy production.

Recent conservation news has been pretty bleak.

But the results of this study remind us that support for our public lands is far higher and broader than some politicians would have you believe.

Evan – swamp pink

I have an essay out in the current issue of swamp pink. It was a strange but rewarding one to write. Thanks @tkiramadden.bsky.social for believing in and publishing such challenging work. swamp-pink.charleston.edu/featured/evan/

LeBrun: USA-Canada rivalry leads to ‘mayhem’ and ‘bad blood’ in 4 Nations Face-Off

It's cool to see the world's best hockey players play competitively in this tournament—and sad that hockey fights are still lauded as somehow proof of this. www.nytimes.com/athletic/613...

My poetry manuscript 'Echolocation,' which weaves the landscapes and ecologies of the American West against themes of violence, adolescence, and beauty, came out last fall. I'll be posting about it, I'm sure. Snag a copy here: www.middlecreekpublishing.com/echolocation 3/4

My prose manuscript critically engages masculinity in ice hockey and American culture more broadly. I'm going to start querying for it soon. I do think it's important work considering the political climate... 2/4
