About halfway through This Safe Darkness by Alexis Maragold and it's soooo good. The dystopian elements being linked to infertility and how society punishes women who can't or choose not to have children is so on point. #dystopia

Restarting a WIP is hard, but it can be necessary. If it's not working and you know yourself well enough to know that you Have to have the front half to effectively write the back half, then do it. Wiping the slate clean and letting the idea twist and turn beyond what was planned can be effective

If you're a fan of food history, I really recommend checking out Wick'd Confections on YouTube. She has a whole series this month on Black American recipes and it's been eye-opening to see the part box mixes played into recipes being lost
I did an interview with the lovely #BrittanyJohnson for her debut YA Sapphic #romantasy. With fun fairy tale vibes, exploration of themes like abuse and the right to be angry, and plenty of flowers, Deadly Ever After delivers two soft and strong female leads

Super, super cute contemporary middle grade that made me see the color orange in a whole new light. I have never liked orange before reading this, but now I think it's an awesome color. #berryparker #tanitasdavis #middlegrade
I'm not sure if I'd say the film is as successful at conveying its themes and ideas as I felt Belle and Ookami no Kodomo were, but I see the vision and I respect that vision especially in a time when it seems like we're becoming more fractured instead of more connected
be messy and angry while also handling child abuse. Ookami no Kodomo is about rural communities aging and giving children space to become their own people and how a parent’s perception of their child is not the end-all-be-all of who they are. Both deal extensively with the idea of community.
Stephen Baxter approach and puts a bunch of people from different societies together. I walked away from the film feeling that it was trying to say something about multiculturalism, immigration, and borders and how we are all part of one world.
Belle was a grief narrative that let its main lead
but I have a lot of respect for it, and for him, for trying something new for the studio in regards to animation and in using art to say something.
Like Summer Wars and Belle, the film touches on a globalized society, but goes past the online space by taking a Time's Eye by Arthur C. Clarke and
I'm a huge fan of Ookami no Kodomo/The Wolf Children and Belle, so I was absolutely going to see #Scarlet, which was sold to me as a genderbent Hamlet with a science fantasy twist. Scarlet is not my favorite of Hosoda Mamoru’s films,
Love, love, LOVED how this book explored the Chinese Queer experience, both past and present, and had really fascinating characters to explore the world outside the romance arc #justinianhuang #theemeperorandtheendlesspalace #speculativefiction
'So take my hand, it's open/We can't erase what's broken/But the pain and shame was what kept us in chains/let the weight fall away and/Maybe we can finally be free'
And now that I've had this thought, I really, really need this
Don't know how many people remember Munto, but as I was listening to the What It Sounds Like demo (again), I had this idea for the #KPDH sequel of #Rujinu reaching across the barrier a la Munto as they sing the lines from the Free verse for a Free Reprise
Newton! Bestest boy!
This was such a cute, well-done YA romance. One of my favorites last year #yaromance #tashiebhuiyan #i'llpretendyou'remine
Congratulations to the #kpopdemonhunters team for winning the Critics Choice Award for best song! This award was so well-deserved!
This is so disappointing to hear. Translators are so undervalued for their skills and this is only going to make their jobs more difficult
