I might not agree with everything about the song, but I certainly believe in the power of guitars over guns. I’d rather see meaningful music influence our world than military force any day.

Thought for the Day - Dr Krish Kandiah - BBC Sounds 07 DEC 24

True strength often lies not in dull acceptance, but in quiet resistance, not in power but in courage, not in having all the answers but in asking the right questions.

I am very appreciative of @lewis_goodall's journalism.
I'm a regular listener to @TheNewsAgents.

But I think Lewis has misunderstood the way that all of us are shaped by our ultimate beliefs...

There are compassionate reasons on both sides of the assisted dying bill.
There are compassionate reasons on both sides of the assisted dying bill. YouTube video by krish kandiah

I believe there are compassionate reasons both to support the assisted dying bill and to oppose it.

I believe that given more time, we can find more common ground and some better ways to protect the vulnerable.

*Epistemology*

Everyone has a set of beliefs. Atheism, secularism, and humanism are all belief systems that rely on assumptions and presuppositions. Lord Falconer is either ignorant of this or hypocritically excluding people who don't share his faith commitments from democracy.

*Democracy*
Lord Falconer implies that a Muslim can't hold a political opinion because they are influenced by their beliefs. To express her opinion is to impose a religious view on everyone else. Whole an atheist is permitted to express an opinion, that is not considered an imposition.

It's fascinating that the @guardian made this their headline news story.

It demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of democracy and epistemology....

The 1990s are enjoying a revivalβ€”from the return of baggy jeans and bucket hats to the reunion of Oasis, and, perhaps most significantly, a Labour government in power once again.
What can Tony Blair teach us about leadership today?

Those who have experienced trauma and loss are often the most compassionate and generous people I have ever met.

It's another reason welcoming refugees is good for our society .

Those that oppose welcoming refugees are often not just miserly towards immigrants they are miserly to everyone.

1,000 days since Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine.
Ukraine fires U.S.-made long-range missiles into Russia, and

Putin approves an update to Russia’s nuclear doctrine, lowering the threshold at which it would consider a nuclear strike.

We pray for peace.

The @dailymail.co.uk is now fact-checking a far-right conspiracy theory about the #Southport attack.
It sickens me that from the moment of the attack, people have been using the tragedy to score political points.

Very pleased the government is taking a child-centered approach.
Going after profit-making in the care sector is a good start.
But we do need genuine reform in foster care it will have the biggest impact on the most number of children in care.
