Comics Code Revision of 1971 – Comic Book Legal Defense Fund

I think this was one of the first books to take advantage of the comics code revisions of 1971. Because of the Spidey drug story one of the changes to the code was that drug use could be depicted, as long as it was not glamorized.

Sometimes I think that #LeedsUnited is trying to kill me.

Today is one of those times.

As a subscriber it is disappointing to see venture capital targeting yet another service I enjoy, and the Yeti has a solid take on the situation.

I absolutely love the current Moon Knight, run but it drives me crazy that they keep ending and rebooting. This is all one big story!

Worse, not only is it broken up into five volumes (so far) but every damn one of them has a different name. So if you store your comics alphabetically...

My copy of Peril of the Brutal Dark just arrived today, and it is a thing of beauty. Seedy noirish beauty, of course. Can't wait to hear these conversations!

In the past few days I’ve interviewed @christophcondon.bsky.social about The Peril of the Brutal Dark & Of the Earth as well as @adityab.net & Som about In Your Skin. You don’t have to wait until the eps drop. Add these to your pull list now! Trust me. @comicbookyeti.com @readtinyonion.bsky.social

I love Britbox, and have subscribed for years. But I hate the stupid "Premier" paywall they recently added so badly I am nearly ready to just drop the service entirely.

Why does everything have to have these pauper-and-prince levels? So frustrating.

Might have to watch a bit of Princess Bride or Spinal Tap tonight. Those movies always make me smile, even when I am feeling down.

Agreed! Absolutely love this cover. I got to visit with Joe Staton and get mine signed a few years back. Such a great guy.

This sounds amazing. Sort of like James Burke's Connections series from back in the day, only with comics!

We Don't Love Superman Because He'll Save Us - Reactor Superman gives audiences hope — but not as a straightforward savior narrative.

Everyone wants to talk about Superman saving the squirrel, or saying I love you 3 months into dating, or holding a dying robot, and I just wanna shake them and shout "And *why* do you like that part??"

(This is why.)

I hate variant covers so much. Slogging through 10 different listings for the same damn book when I am doing preorders is absolutely infuriating. #comics

Instead of being in settings its in the google app. Also, google, not chrome. Icon is a G, not the circle thing. Click on your pfp to open a menu

From there, go Settings > Gemini > Digital Assistants > Switch to Google Assistant. This disables Gemini, google's Al assistant, and switches you back to the old one. We aren't done yet.

Go back to Settings. From there, we go Settings > Google Assistant > scroll to find General > Google Assitant on/off > turn it off

They really tried their best to make it a pain, but you can eventually disable it. Holding the power button on your phone still pulls up a menu and asks you to turn it back on, but this is the least intrusive you can make it.

Applies to all non-apple phones afaik. For sure Samsungs and Pixels but idrk about others

Edit: thank you my friend @/teeth-kid for confirming that this also works on Motorola

Watched ROBOCOP (the original from 1987) again recently, and it was actually sort of fantastic?!? The movie is a weird mashup of cheesy stop motion robots, social commentary and a massive helping of gore. But it works. If anything i think I like it more now than I did when it came out!

The Mythmakers: The Remarkable Fellowship of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Finished up THE MYTHMAKERS by @johnhendrix.bsky.social a few days ago and I love that it still is bouncing around in my thoughts. As a fan of Tolkien and Lewis this book is a joy. Hendrix explores a fascinating story, and tells it magnificently.

Watched TRON with my son tonight, and when Gibbs says "Won't that be grand? Computers and the programs will start thinking and the people will stop" it hit a bit harder than I remember.

I have been preordering comics for over 30 years, and I absolutely hate everything about the process. It's hard to find what I want, tedious to keep track of what I have ordered, and requires unreasonable patience and discipline than

And yet the breakup of Diamond has somehow made it even worse.

The contempt that these folks have for the poor and under-privileged is galling. Yes, it is ethical to buy used books. Yes, it is ethical to borrow books from the library. Not everyone can afford to shop at Barnes & Noble, but everyone deserves the joy of reading.

Update: OK, so here I am on the other side, 2000 pages later.

I can confidently say that this is a fantastic group of comics. In case you are wondering, my favorite supporting character from each of these was: Sophie, Laura Dern, Grandma, Chase, Alvin and Almena Burnett. #Eisners #EisnerAwards

My wife is a school librarian and Eisner voter, and so every spring we read all the Eisner nominated books we can lay hands on before she casts her ballot.

This is the first batch. Looking forward to digging into a great pile of comics!

We are alternating episodes of #Murderbot and #Reacher, and while both shows are excellent it is weird how they star essentially the same character - a casually homicidal loner unable to connect with normal humans who is a mortal danger to everyone they come into contact with.

Embraced my inner @mattzollerseitz.bsky.social and wrote one of my most personal pieces yet. It’s been hard to love the movies (or anything, really) in 2025, and it was Thunderbolts* (of all things!) that just absolutely demolished me.

FINALLY made it to the Jack Kirby exhibition at the Skirball. An incredible collection of his work, from the 1940s to the end of his life. The evolution of his style, the merger of science and myth, the anti fascist nature of it...wow. Kirby is the king.

Our family loves #eurovision, and tonight's semi-final was a lot of fun. That said, it continues to astonish me how terrible I am at figuring out who is going to do well.
