Palau’s Golden Jellies may not be blooming at the moment, but they are still an absolute delight. #jellyfishlake #palaujellyfishlake #palau #MarineLife #snorkelling

A male weedy sea dragon, about 30cm long, shown from the side. It has a large patch of old eggs below its tail and they are becoming encrusted in algae. The dragon itself is yellow and purple with darker areas around the edges and white/yellow spots throughout.

Fun day poking around with a bunch of weedy sea dragons. Lucky me! #WeedySeaDragon #MarineLife #UnderwaterPhotography #PortseaPier

May we all find a few moments of carefree ease, just like this wee hooded nudibranch. #underwater #VancouverIsland #UWphoto

A pinkish painted anemone takes centre stage while a white plumose anemone hangs in from the top of the frame. Two purple sea stars site to the right of the painted anemone and a kelp crab stands on one of the sea stars.

I was so enamoured with the painted anemone that I didn’t even notice the cute little kelp crab sitting on the sea star when I snapped this photo. #UnderwaterPhotography #anemone #VancouverIsland 🦑

Lucky to spot this sweet white-and-orange-tipped nudibranch on a nearby ferry piling yesterday. They're dreamy-looking. #UnderwaterPhotography #nudibranch #MarineLife #VancouverIsland

Sadly, that top part in front of the rhinophores is too blown out to recover any of the highlights, I think. You could try in LR but would probably just get a muddy grey result (at least that's been my experience with similar shots).

Great capture of so much abundance. I often get focused on zooming in on the cool little stuff. Thanks for the reminder to soak in the big picture from time to time :-)

Who cares about the return of orca salmon hats -- this little Monterey dorid is trying to revive the lost art of flagpole sitting and I'm here for it! #UnderwaterPhotography #Nudibranch #VancouverIsland 🦑

The Lewis's are the biggest moon snails and iNaturalist tells me that the shell can grow to 14cm. These ones were about 8cm for the shell and then the foot made the total length probably more like 15-18cm. Didn't catch either of them feasting but still fun to watch!

Thanks Sonja -- fun to see them out and about :-)

A Lewis's moon snail crawls along the bottom of the sea floor, its foot about three times the size of its shell. It has a sizeable siphon on the front left of where it sucks in water. There are also two visible tentacles poking out from its head.

A front view of a purplish Lewis's moon snail with a large shell behind. the shell has some mint green shaded colouring on it.
