Star ratings are fundamentally weird. What do you mean you JUST experienced a piece of art and need to immediately measure it with fractional mathematics?
Left: a show whose writers constantly introduced major plot turns without any idea how to deal with them later.
Right: a show whose creators came up with their ending early on and stuck to it, no matter the mounting evidence that it was no longer viable.
Planning in TV is wildly overrated.
'Hacks' star Hannah Einbinder slams AI creators as 'losers'
"They're not artists. They're not creative ... They're trying to rob real creative people of our gifts. And you can't ... you will never be cool ... You are a loser ... I wanna put your head in the toilet and flush it"

"Of course critics would hate the Mario movies, they're aimed at young kids and have no story, it's not FOR critics"
Both Shaun the Sheep movie adaptations got glowing praise from critics across the board.
Critics love animation. It's when the film beneath it feels shallow that they dislike it.
I guess I'm somewhat jaded because when Rise of Skywalker was first announced all anyone did was demand to know why they revealed Palpatine's return in the trailer/poster/etc because it should have been a surprise.
Then he was just there unremarkably in the first scene.
Least of the film's issues.
The HP trailer just feels so...off. So much of it is straining to replicate the shots, beats, and look of the original, without any of the spark, color, or whimsy. Just an incredibly soulless, cynical venture to fund the vanity of its bitter, hateful creator.
Dogs will save us all.
Infuriating that this movie is gonna make lile $2 billion
I always liked his cameo in Dodgeball. He just shows up XD
Name your favorite movie score or soundtrack.
Not the best one, but a sentimental fave.
Show somebody who absolutely rocks a hat and isn't Indiana Jones.

Reading @karenhao.bsky.social 's EMPIRE OF AI (EXCELLENT read, really informative and well researched, great resource for anti-AI folks), and learning about the "Effective Altruism" movement is my joker moment.
these people are absolute psychopaths.
It's absolutely fucking bleak shit, man.
The unifying aesthetic of the the MCU being "what if it was permanently overcast outdoors forever" has had a detrimental impact on Movie lighting.

Stardew Valley over here clocking 50 million sales with SNES-tier graphics and these people are STILL trying to sell me visible pores and individual eyelashes like I ever asked for any of that.
The Kilmer AI acting thing bums me out man, itโs grave robbery and I donโt care whether the family โapprovedโ of it, they may not have had a financial say in the matter, who knows what state his estate was in
I saw someone once argue that Eternals is the superhero film that Zach Snyder has been trying to make his entire career.
There was a fantastic interview with Roger Ebert talking about something similar in 1996 (?) I wanna say.
In the interview he argued that people are suspicious of good movies and would actively seek out lesser films if presented with a great film.
Has anyone ever written about the reactions of a viewer watching a movie AFTER the film earned tons of acclaim/awards/box office success versus watching *versus* BEFORE the culture responded so positively?
Thereโs gotta be some interesting psychological stuff at play here.

I read the piece again and became even more disappointed.
2026: "Docter said Pixar found some parents didnโt want entertainment to force them to have a conversation they werenโt ready for with their children. โWeโre making a movie, not hundreds of millions of dollars of therapy,โ he said."
2009:
