Reporters may behave as dissonance theory predicts when they selectively avoid information.
A recent New Yorker article raised criticisms of research derived from cognitive dissonance theory.
The article seemed to conclude that cognitive dissonance is not a thing.
This post addresses those criticisms by reviewing additional evidence ignored by the New Yorker.

Great post Dave! I dug into the author's background a bit and it seems he's a christian who is offended by Festinger et al. comparing their "cult" with christianity. The author makes digs at Festinger being an atheist. How many scientists believe wholly in 1 god out of the 3000+?
