Wise words from RTE on simplifying permitting: resource authorities, share and use existing data sets, standardise EIA protocols, use a one stop shop developer cant interact with. We agree.

Also on what is NOT requested- tampering with existing legislation through omnibuses and the like.

Wind industry invested 45bn euro. Investing an irrelevant fraction in nature restoration would allow us to ensure desperately needed decarbonisation leaves us with more, rather then less biodiversity.

Striking figure from Commissioner Jorgensen: sînce the latest war Euopeans spend 500 milion more PER DAY on fossil fuels.
For my understanding, this is more than the annual budget of LIFE the EU's only environment fund and backbone of biodiversity conservation.

In Madrid with a delegation of @birdlifeeurope.bsky.social Partners for #WindEurope2026 to which we are official biodiversity partner.

Good to see increasing attention to nature from the sector. But will ongoing environmental deregulation mess it all up?

Will be posting ovet coming days.

Critical Atlantic current significantly more likely to collapse than thought Scientists say finding is ‘very concerning’ as collapse would be catastrophic for Europe, Africa and the Americas

This is the biggest security risk for Europe. Time to treat it that way.

I'm old enough to remember the days when spring landscape outside the train windows was dominated by the red of poppies.

Now it's replaced by the sickly orange of glifosated fields.

Great. So let's start by dropping proposals to gut the Water Framework and Nitrates Directives.

Clean water requires finally enforcing existing laws. Not ripping them up.

More than 15 years ago we helped save Kenya's precious Dakatcha woodland from being cleared for an Italian biofuels plantation

Now ENI is being reported driving poverty & hunger in Kenya for "sustainable" aviation fuel. When will we learn?

More subsidies, fewer rules and even more chasing of exports. This is a receipe for making all the current roblems worse.

You keep dodging the root problems:
-we produce and consume way too much livestock
-we keep concentrating animals in ever fewer regions and farms
-we produce in destructive ways

EC issues "reasoned opinion" against Austria in case about conservation measures of #Natura2000. Essentially, it's about faking conservation.

Good.

Hope ECJ will now issue a strong ruling.

Enough paper parks.

EU climate advisers say eat less meat and tax farm emissions Brussels must take urgent measures to reduce the carbon footprint of food and farming, a scientific advisory board report says.

Europeans should eat less meat and farms must be taxed for their planet-warming pollution if the bloc is to reach its climate goals, the EU's scientific advisers argue.

Their far-reaching recommendations are unlikely to get a warm welcome from farmers.

European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change calls for scrapping harmful CAP subsidies, a caron price in farming, and recycling the money back into helping farmers adapt and increase resilience.

No brainer, but don't expect any short term action. The farm lobby wants the disaster.

🙅 Tell your decision makers: #HandsOffNature!

Delaying the EU Deforestation Regulation = 50 million trees lost per year

Enforcing it = 17 million tonnes of CO₂ less + benefits for our health & nature.

When leaders won’t do the math, your action is essential.

The results farm lobby "pro farmers" propaganda is a system where the vast majority of farmers get next to nothing, while a small well connected network of insiders gets most of the pie.

Keep the 2.4% pocketing 45% vs 50% getting 3.4% in mind next time you see the tractors rolling into Brussels

As a brave Bulgarian minister raises again the issue of widespread corruption, it's worth noting that in BG 2.4% of beneficiaries received 45% of direct payments, while nearly half of recipients get just 3.4%

So EU Commissioner Hansen is back drumming up #biofuels as a solution to expensive oil. An idea that failed 20 years ago.

Reminder:
- we dont have the land
-when fossil fuel goes up, against commodities follow
-further linking oil and food markets is going to starve the most vumerable.

🙅 People across Europe are demanding a lead-free future.

7 in 10 European citizens support a strong EU ban. Yet the latest draft weakens the restriction by excluding bullets.

Lead puts human, wildlife and nature health at risk. Ignoring science and public demand is not leadership.
