A wood cut by Walter Crane of various workers holding hands, dancing around the globe withe a ribbon around it saying "Solidarity of Labour", with the names of continents in other ribbons, words like "fraternity" and such. At the bottom the words "Labour's May Day: Dedicated to the Workers of the World"
Happy May Day! Workers of the world, unite!

The end of the end of history
We’ll be meeting tomorrow evening, 6:30pm GMT. Join us!

Wrote a reflection about this years ago for @thehourmag.bsky.social

"This appeal to charity, whenever it is greatly in evidence, is a sure sign that things have got wrong. It always means that the individual right [to property] is treated as absolute in itself, and has escaped out of its proper subordination to the demands of justice"
- Henry Scott Holland
4) "Finally, the message to the churches must surely be that at a time of growing anti-Semitism, the Church must rediscover its essentially Jewish roots & the Jewish basis of its Gospel"
3) "there needs to be local action in the deprived & neglected areas which are the breeding ground for fascist groups...In short, fascism cannot be defeated from a distance by people who are remote from the problem it manifests"
2) "a recognition that one cannot fight fascism w/out building socialism...it is not enough to say that we fight fascism first & build socialism afterwards"
In turn, there are four tasks which are urgent in response to creeping fascism
1) "the need for rigorous & continuous analysis of what is happening, for disciplined monitoring of the activities of racist and fascist groups"
4) "international anti-Communist movements"
5) "grass roots racialist & "populist" organizations which exploit fears & resentments...and organize them into racial hatred and intolerance"
3) "there is the activity of those strong vested interests which organize to defend the established structures and resist threats to their security & power. These may include anti-trade union groups, attacks on the welfare state, & para-military defense organizations"
2) "there are movements which attempt to identify & attack minorities & lay blame on them in a blanket way"
1) "religious movements which confuse Christianity with western society and its values...(It is here that the stress on the sexual area can be very dangerous)"
According to Kenneth Leech, there are five areas of activity which contribute to the growth of a Fascist movement: www.thehourmag.com/post/kenneth...

Wood block images of the angels' announcement to the shepherds and text that says "Anglican Socialism, A Reading Course presented by The Hour Magazine
This Epiphany The Hour Magazine is hosting an eight week reading course and discussion group that will cover the basic history and thought of Anglican Socialism. It is for those who would already consider themselves a Christian Socialist and those who don’t. A participant should expect to read around 25-75 pages a week and meet for Evening Prayer and an online facilitated conversation for about an hour on the Sunday evenings of Epiphany. This first round is offered at no cost to all through the support of the Hour’s Patreon members. To learn more or to sign up you can DM thehourmag.bsky.social or email tonydhunt@gmail.com

Alright we had a bunch of followers on the other website and we know we've got more listeners out there. Help us get the word out! Are you into Christianity and socialism? Cool interviews with weird theologians? Occasional content about medieval bones? Have we got a show for you!
As Herbert McCabe said: "The class struggle is not something we are in a position to refrain from. It is just there; we are either on one side or the other. What looks like neutrality is simply a collusion with the class in power."
