I love the way the show leans into how the Elves are embalmers, trying to arrest time and preserve the world as it is. Using mithril to do that is an odd choice, but overall, the Tolkien themes of Death and Immortality are there!

I love the whole idea that Adar would “adopt” the Uruk in the leadership vacuum after Morgoth’s fall (and getting rid of Sauron) and make them a family. They’re all trauma survivors, just trying to make a home and start over!

I don’t understand the criticism this show gets regarding costuming. It looks amazing to me! Is it because we don’t have nine hours of behind the scenes documentaries on a DVD Appendix showing off the craftsmanship to make it count as “legit”? Kate Hawley is fantastic.
