Donald Trump wages war in real life like I do in Civilization. Rushing in unprepared and then quickly attempting a peace that the other side is pretty annoyed with.

So many cheap, pristine items in the Sendai book off. Not a lot of tourists have figured out Sendai exists yet.

Try not to worry about it too much. The only place I hated last trip in Tokyo was Asukusa during the day.

The vibe I remember pre-covid is dead. At night the template is beautiful and the bars are still open. Bar Orange Room if you like metal!

The Philosophers path in Kyoto is still my favorite place in the world. And less crowded than like kiyomizu dera or Kinkaku-ji.

But the meta of Japanese tourism right now seems to be to go North. Sendai, Aomori, Hakodate, Sapporo. It was a delight last year.

The major areas are still worth seeing just don’t linger there. Go to shibuya crossing but don’t try to have a meal around there. Shinagawa was still pretty chill. Go to Asukusa but after 9pm or before 7am. ( I prefer it at night)

This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.

100% the best tech biopic of all time. It’s funny, gripping, and while certainly a satire also feels way more real than most historical accounts of the rise of powerful companies.

The Dirties and Operation Avalanche, Matt Johnson’s first two feature are both bold and interesting more than great films. But they are definitely worth watching if you love the mockumentary style of Nirvanna the band

I think there is a lot of value in showing that the man who brought about the post scarcity era wasn’t an enlightened philosopher but actually a dipshit who pursued science for his own reasons. Who feared fame and worship. But then, when he needed to step up, became a person admired for all time.
