Speaking as one who never misses an opportunity to shoehorn a topic into a post, and as it’s Sky Awareness Week, I’m sharing (and you may be ahead of me here) a linocut with a sky - for those of us who need to practice their awareness 🤔
‘Storm Clouds over Whitehall’ linocut

It is - well spotted!
These four very long, thin
linocuts are horribly difficult to print and a really awkward size to frame. Still, it seemed like an excellent idea at the time....

For those tyre enthusiasts out there - and I’m sure there are many of you - today, in 1923, Firestone started producing balloon-tyres for cars.
Which leads neatly on to my linocut of some cars, sadly lacking, as I am, in any artwork that includes bunnies, lambs or eggs. Happy Easter everyone! 🐣
A slightly odd view from the train on the approach to Blackfriars station - you’re looking straight on at the London Eye and yet somehow the sunset is still off to the west.
It’s thanks to that great loop in the Thames - there are some great views that are technically correct but a bit unexpected!
In honour of St Patrick’s Day and in the absence of anything more suitable, here is a mostly green linocut of a tube train carriage….. ☘️☘️☘️

Not long now (I hope!)
Linocuts lend themselves very well to simplicity and spontaneity - I have a tendency to overcomplicate things!
This week’s progress and just one more colour to go. And which colour is this, I hear you ask - no idea but I’ll have to get a wriggle on or I’ll still be here at Christmas 😂

For #valentinesday, here's my linocut 'Remember Me' - for all long lost lovers everywhere... ❤️

I called this linocut, ‘The Golden Hour’ because I love that time just before sunset, when the light sometimes softens and warms and London briefly forgets it’s supposed to be grey, cold and drizzly. I’m sure I’m not the only one to pause for a moment on Blackfriars Bridge to admire that view ❤️
Thank you - and yes, it would be nice to make a fresh start this year wouldn’t it?
Better to be super organised than the other way round, that’s for sure!
I started this year thinking I was going to get super organised - a week later and I really can’t be arsed So instead of a picture of my neatly filled-in wall planner, here’s a linocut of Bethnal Green gas holders instead…

Happy New Year’s Eve to everyone! And thank you all for the support and kind comments that have warmed my rather chilly studio in this little corner of south east London over the past year - wishing you all good things for 2026!

Eggs, fresh bread, a cool glass of wine, and a flower to rest your eyes on ~ I like the simplicity of 17th century German still-life specialist Georg Flegel’s ‘Snack with Fried Eggs’ (1630), State Gallery Aschaffenburg
And to you!
For the next two days, I plan to be flat out on the sofa, in front of the TV, with a glass of champagne continually topped up by a team of elves - well, a girl can dream…
Here's hoping all your Christmas wishes come true - have a good one and see you on the other side!

Beautiful words from Margaret Atwood:
“This is the solstice, the still point of the sun, its cusp and midnight, the year's threshold and unlocking, where the past lets go of and becomes the future, the place of caught breath, the door of a vanished house left ajar...”

Just a little reminder that tomorrow, Friday 19th, is the last day I can post prints in time for Christmas (UK only). 🎄
So, after a lot of effing and blinding, endless cups of tea and a little bit of crying in the corner, here is my latest linocut, Hinterlight. Hope you like it!

Thank you - and no, I only do my home city as I really need to know a place well before I start a new piece…
As usual, I’ve waited until the very last day of the month to post my linocut ‘November Rain’. Still, better late than never…

Thank you!
Municipal trees lead a sad sort of life - branches over-pruned, roots constrained by concrete, the iron guards used as handy rubbish bins and, lest we forget, peed on endlessly by passing dogs. Still, nothing says
#NationalTreeWeek like a London park with a few spindly trees thrown in…
#linocut
I was going to post a linocut of a railway bridge for #NationalBridgeDay…
But I don’t appear have done one - so here’s the old passenger footbridge at Farrington Station.
Although, now I come to think of it, it might be the other sort of bridge, as in the card game kind.
Oh well, too late now 😂
Here’s a great view from the passenger footbridge at Wandsworth Road Station. Sadly the gas holder was demolished to make way for blocks of flats and Battersea Power Station has been engulfed by, as I'm sure you've guessed, more flats, only now they're called luxury apartments 🫤

Oh dear! 🙁
Thank you!
