my decision to go and see the 10:45 showing of the Stand By Me re-release and then trapsing around the city centre for half an hour before going Aldi for dishwasher tablets on my way home is entirely vindicated

i've been waiting for something interesting to happen when I've got my big camera with me for ages now and today it finally happened! only had my 50mm prime on me but i think it was fine
got some photos in the star today, lol #photography #sheffield
black and white photo of the side of the multi-storey carpark behind the wetherspoons behind castle house
black and white photo of the neon sign in the entry way to the abbeydale ballroom
black and white photo of some light hitting a tower blocks windows in an interesting sort of way. there is another, unlit, tower in the foreground to provide a sense of contrast
put a spoiler warning on that ๐
this is a legitimate attempt on my part to play proper music instead of my usual ambient sprawl. I am excited!
performing under the "TOBLERDRONE" banner at The Gin Bar on Abbeydale Road this Saturday at 12:00 (midday)

two of, maybe the only two actually, in-water duck stewards chatting before the start of the duck race
mid drop at the start of the duck race. the contraption worked wonderfully- not a single duck was left encaged
view upstream from around the midway point. tremendous weather so it was very busy. it was busy last year and it was pissing it down tbf
view downstream from around the mi amigo memorial thing. there was a sort of strange pile of remembrance wreathes in the bushes near here. seemed odd.
duck race
got there late with my 17-40 (and the thought of trying to push through a crowd to get photos makes me want to be sick) but i think that lead to capturing the crowd which is nice and reflects the atmosphere of the day.

this is some sort of smaller blossom tree
the clock at the pavilion of the botanical gardens at exactly 12:00. it wasn't actually 12:00 there was some sort of maintenance work going on so the clock had been stopped.

southerly view down burgess street in sheffield city centre. there is the closed john lewis/cole brothers building on the right and then quite a mishmash of building styles in the distance.
big old roller shutters with a little bit of pavement and road in the bottom of the shot.
old "cole brothers" sign. it is quite beautifully weathered and textured.
upwards view of the side face of the john lewis/cole brothers building. there are lots of textures here- tiling, concrete, overly-reflective glass. pretty fun.
Burgess Street in the city centre. pretty fun little road imo.

photo my brother took of me
between barber booth and lord's seat. a winding dirt path with a blue sky with simpsons-esque clouds. there are still bits of snow in the hollows of the grass
flipped over car under a blue sky with snow on the ground.
two hikers sat in the grass having lunch staring down the barrel of the great ridge
a person in a red top reaches the crest of a stoney path under a blue sky.
went from edale, to mam tor, back tor, lose hill, hope, etc. managed to pick another beautiful day.

head of the procession with the sheffield samba band and then illuminated lanterns further back
long exposure shot of lanterns passing by. lots of colourful trails, etc.

feels great to be shooting in the sunshine after the winter seems to have dragged on and on
a guy sat looking at the path from lose hill towards mam tor
the path towards mam tor from the top of lose hill. loads of massive stone slabs that some poor fucker had to lay up there.
a stone wall with a countryside view beyond it
looking over a stony outcrop into the countyside
went up Lose Hill today. beautiful weather.

next to the co-op fridges would win ๐
view of tower blocks from london road. there is a really nice angle you can see when you are driving from the middle of the road but its a pretty aggressive driving around there so i am going to have to go at dawn or something to try and get a shot but not get squished
looking up at the moore street substation. probably an overdone photo opportunity but it is very attractive and striking to look at.
big patch of daffodils beside the ring road.
empty stage at the slow wave sound ambient gig upstairs in the shakespeares pub. it is one of my favourite gigs to go to and i have been lucky enough to perform there twice.
photos from my walk to the shakespeare pub for the slow wave sound #9 ambient/drone/minimalism gig

staircase in the graves gallery/library. i think the paint has been peeling there since i moved to sheffield 12 years ago. i like it.
the arts tower from a little lane near the wellington pub. is it shalesmoor?
rare blues sky with a semi-freshly exposed gable end. its inspiring to think that at some point you can become unterraced if you work hard enough
barricaded walkway at the sheffield station
got a decent walk in today

inside sheffield winter gardens. shows some greenery and the wooden arched roof trusses.
one day i am going to find an angle i like in/around the winter gardens. one day!
Sheffield city centre viewed from Parkwood Springs. presents a different angle compared to the amphitheatre view. will have to go back on a less misty day.
uphill path in parkwood springs. slightly pleasant.
pleasing woodland path snaking its way along in parkwood springs.
some sort of goose/geese on the weir at near ball street bridge.
got the bus to parkwood springs and then walked home

i did go bowling but i didnt go to the casino
frontage of the casino in sheffield city centre at night. some nice red lighting.
tenpin bowling alley in sheffield city centre. it doesnt feel as fun now the pins are on strings but the machines do seem much more reliable now. apart from the lane we were one always put the 9 pin down no matter if you'd already hit it or not.
some birthday wandering last week

synthesizer setup comprising a korg multipoly, digitakt 2, and moog subharmonicon
This is my current setup. The subharmonicon is fairly new so doesnt really feature on the album. I record it all to tape and then play it into Ableton to digitise it.
This is some more ambient music that I have made.

its a great ceiling
not been in that place since it got redone and i think its really nice. bit murky for photos though. i am using affinty photo2 to process my raws and i dont like how the noise reduction looks so why not lean into it a little.
