Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Womp womp. Found out today that our NIH grant that had an impact score of 19 won't be funded.
Filing this over under 'Not Funded*'
*Due to generally terrible world events and horrible time for US federal funding for research
Anytime we bring on new people (students, postdocs, staff, faculty), I always wish we had more spots based on the number of many amazing applicants.
I like to follow the careers of the people who we couldn't hire, and I get a big smile when I see their successes. Keep it up!
We're accepting applications for a *paid* research experience (including a stipend and housing) for undergraduate students over the summer, as part of the Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) at the University of Utah. For more details and to apply: our.utah.edu/spur/explori...
We’d love to see these insights help fuel more studies on daily-life head movement in both research and clinical settings. The full dataset is freely available for anyone who wants to dive in!
Stay tuned for how these data can help us understand the impact of TBI on daily life!
We continuously monitored 7 days of head and trunk motion using wearable sensors and found that adults make over 5,000 head turns per day, most of them independent of trunk movement — and that these metrics become highly reliable by Day 2.
In this work, we outline how to remotely monitor head motion over multiple days by addressing key challenges:
1. Compliance
2. Sensor orientation
3. Normative descriptive statistics
4. Relationships with other continuous monitoring metrics
5. Minimum wear time
🎉Excited to share our latest publication, led by PhD student Selena Cho, on continuous monitoring of head kinematics in daily life! From scanning the environment, to gesturing, to turning — head movements play a critical role in how we interact with the world.

Please repost! We have a second biomechanics faculty position!
This is an open rank clinical-track position in sports biomechanics at the University of Michigan. This is a largely teaching-focused position and we have outstanding resources to support teaching and student learning. #BiomechSky
It's like reliving the uncertainty, and then relief + exhilaration of finding Ruby or Emerald Weapon with your golden chocobo, catching Missingno. off the coast of Cinnabar Island, or finding your other favorite easter egg for the first time.
Camping in Utah is like video games in the late 90s. You hear info about a special spot, find vague directions online from a sketchy website, spend hours following unmarked roads wondering if this is a waste of time, and then get to the destination and it lives up to the hype.
