But these games are important! People should feel more comfortable celebrating them and discussing them seriously! They shaped developers like myself and offered elements that honestly I'm still craving more of from the industry - elements I'm hopeful will return to games in the future✨

And often when these games are critiqued, there's little accounting for the economic and industry obstacles (like those described in this essay) that often shape their production💰

The sense of loss beautifully conveyed in this essay resonates so deeply. Older games that center the feminine experience are rarely considered part of the so-called “canon” and thus often not thought to be worthy of critical discussion🌿

As a former, debilitatingly perfectionist student in high school, the story successfully hits home for sure and leaves me hoping that students today have an easier time accessing resources for mental health than I did nearly fifteen years ago🍃

Consume Me is a surprise favorite for me coming in clutch at the end of the year🍫

Somehow this game has me desperate to "perfect" my weeks all the while openly satirizing the impossibility of "having it all" - particularly in the midst of being a hormonal mess of a teenager🫥
