Remember: Before he was The Onion's CEO, Ben was an outstanding reporter on misinformation, and that led him to spend a huge amount of time in really dark places, and to become a target himself for some of the worst people out there. For all the jokes, which are great, that past informs his present.

Warblers on my mind.
Making these two different sets of bird art was a fun way of seeing how my brain works at IDing birds.

You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.

Bunnies in a raft pull up next to a spaceship capsule, which has just splashed down and is floating in the open sea. Visible in the capsule, two bunnies wave at the ones in the boat.

You have more in common with the people of Iran than you do with anyone in this administration, any member of the technocracy, anyone who is profiting from this war, or any billionaire. When you see Iranians forming human chains outside key infrastructure sites, you should feel a sense of kinship.
Yesterday, I saw more northern flickers in a single day than the rest of my life combined 😭

James @GoodVibePolitik X.com A friend in Cuba just notified me that every single patient in that hospital that was on ventilators died tonight. I don't have words. James @GoodVibePolitik•4h There's something supremely saddening and enraging about seeing a hospital running on bare minimum power. Thinking about dialysis patients, babies in NICU, and others tonight in Cuba. This is a blockade of death. THE THE B
What the US is purposefully doing to Cuba should be considered genocide.
Marking some exam Qs today
For “Write a power of 5 from this list.” about half of my class (Y11 F) had written 1^5=1, 2^5=32 etc… (none of which were in the list)
And I realised that our language around indices/powers is so unhelpful, and why so many were making mistakes.

Hello from Sweden 🇸🇪
I am here this week giving lectures and learning about an educational system in a country with a social safety net.
For starters, undergraduate education is free and doctoral students are treated as employees, including paid medical and parental leave.
Shoe free classrooms are a whole rabbit hole! The research shows that bullying is reduced, mobility increases and bacterial transfers drops dramatically.
I went shoe free for a couple of years at an Indigenous board but Now that I'm back in Ontario it's too strict and I can't have it my way 😬

100,000 trans people & allies fill central London for Trans Pride.
Mainstream media: nothing
Thousands of trans people & allies fill Wembley Arena for pro-trans gig with massive names like Sophie Ellis-Bextor & Sugarbabes.
Mainstream media: nothing.
This is what extreme media bias looks like.
UPDATE: A tense, day-long standoff outside a South Burlington house ended Wednesday night with federal immigration agents removing three people inside and a series of violent clashes between police and hundreds of activists who tried to impede the apprehension.

Father David Bauer stands facing the camera against a plain backdrop, smiling while holding a large hockey trophy mounted on a wide wooden base. He wears a dark clerical suit with a white Roman collar. The trophy has two ornate handles and a central cup, with small hockey player figurines positioned on the base near the front. Numerous engraved plaques are attached around the wooden base beneath the cup.
Father David Bauer loved the game of hockey.
A gifted player, he turned down playing pro hockey to become a priest.
But hockey never left him.
He mentored many players and created Canada's men's national hockey team program.
This is his story.
