remember kids, when a pizza place has sizes in inches or centimeters, it's very misleading, because just like monitors they are measuring the diagonal length

"Pro Fighter X" SNES copier
It's displaying the volume name first, "CHRIS" then overlaying invalid entries into the file list. Also tries to load invisible files...
My disk fix code. Done through a bit of searching and trial-and-error, since these BIOSes don't run on emulators, and no SNES emu emulates floppies anyway...
Pro Fighter X file display fixed up! Also with a new tilde glyph added into the font, as well as a new custom SFC background
The "Pro Fighter X" series of SNES copiers has kinda stupid disk handling code: it doesn't filter out FAT entries on floppy disk that should never be displayed, like the Volume name ("CHRIS"), directories, and long filename chunks. This causes errors during display & loading. So I RE'd and fixed it.
goddammit, microslop
im so annoyed with my experience with haskell, im gonna write a minecraft clone in cobol to vent
The inside of a Famicom Network System unit (HVC-050) and the RF shield of the modem portion is covered in rust.
Beautiful.
(This is a Family Computer Network System HVC-050, btw)
Let's do this.

This thing is ridiculous. No, i can't put the controllers back on the sides.
Got a Souseiki Fammy in the mail yesterday. Gonna be figuring out FDS dumping in the coming weeks to get these disks backed up. I also plan on getting the rest of this device reverse engineered and documented.
Milestone reached: #Homebrew on the StudyBox! Getting this working was a bunch of really hacky code, so I've got a lot of cleanup ahead of me.
I've started to extract some screens from side B of that Darwin tape. It's a music program of some sort. And there's a horse race thing too? Idk.
Anyway, I'm doing more reverse engineering of this stuff tonight if you want to stop by: www.twitch.tv/zorchenhimer
I'm not convinced the colors are correct, but they're probably close.
I was able to extract some screens from that Darwin tape over the weekend. I've also confirmed that i need the Model 1000 firmware to play the tape. It will not run with the SBX-01 firmware.
Side A of a Rare StudyBox Model 1000 tape. Box reads: Solve the mystery of biological evolution! Can you become human? A survival evolution game DARWIN
Side B of a Rare StudyBox Model 1000 tape. Box reads: Turn your Famicom into a karaoke machine. Sound Vision
I got my hands on a rare tape for the StudyBox Model 1000! This tape will not work in the newer model SBX-01 for a few reasons. If I can get a dump of the firmware for the Model 1000, we'll be able to play these tapes.
Calvin and Hobbes comic. Dad explains there's only two types of file formats: .txt and .zip #programming #software #softwareengineering
There's really only two file formats

These are some of the reference pages I used for hand-assembling 6502 machine code programs. I learnt 6502 machine code on the CBM PET in 1979 and needed these sheets to look-up the opcodes for the instructions. I can still remember a lot of them today! Here's a test for you...A9, 4C, 20, EA, 85.
I finally finished all 5 shots of this little animation practice sequence. Had so much fun to combine Procreate, Clip Studio, Blender and After Effects to explore this style.

When I worked at Software Creations we used an in-house Editor/Assembler to create our NES games ( PC-ED ). This video shows NES Wolverine ( 1991 ) being assembled. The NES development system was attached to the PC via a parallel link and the object code was deployed to the NES for testing.
Back to some software dev today. Working on some retro dev tooling, focusing on graphics stuff.

Real programmers use simple text editors. And no, that's not what defines them. Quite the opposite. If you start using simple text editor you won't become one. You become one when you realize that generating MBs of text per second is not real programming. It's just API plumbing.
Playing some Momodora: Moonlit Farewell cuz I'm too burnt out from work to code.
